Jeff Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 hello, I have a 2004 Gibson '59 Les Paul Standard Historic Reissue Custom Authentic and was wondering what the difference was between the Custom Authentic '59 RI version and the '59 RI Custom Historic VOS LP. Both guitars have an aged finish but the '59 Custom Authentic when they were made cost considerably more than the Historic '59 VOS which came out later in 2006. I am assuming it was the aging process used because i have read the Custom Authentic had the same aging process as the Murphy but without the checking and relicing. Also what years were the Custom Authentic's made? I know it was for a fairly brief time but I am not sure of the duration. any info would be appreciated. thank you
Custom Admin Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 CA was a process that involved over-buffing, VOS that involves several different proprietary steps to effect the lightly aged look to the hardware and finish. i think we did custom authentic from approx. 2001-2005.
Zaphod B Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Wow you paid more for "over-buffing" You will not make friends by trolling in this section. If you don't have anything useful to contribute I'd suggest you refrain from posting.
