Angus Young . . .

I posted this under "Pickups" with no response so I thought I'd try here:

I'm getting ready to mod a 2001 LP Custom and want to put an Angus Young PU in the bridge position. I'll be replacing the pots and caps with a Jimmy Page style harness - all push pulls. Hardware on the guitar is gold.

So the questions are:

1) I believe the current bridge position has f-spaced pole spacing - how far off is the Angus version?

2) Can I easily unsolder the chrome cover and what does an Angus look like uncovered (ugly or just the usual bobbins)?

Thanks

1) the spacing should be the same on both...we call it Bridge spacing, not f-spacing (f would indicate either fender or Floyd rose spacing).

2) you could unsolder it, and the AY will look like any other pickup (bobbins and slugs). However, we don't recommend taking the cover off, as you may encounter some harmonic feeback without it.

Thanks for the response.

Sounds like I'l have to go with different Gibson PUs or Dimarzio or SD because a nickel cover on a gold hardware LP won't look right.
