ChanMan
I hasten to point out that the "criminalize it and arrest the users" tactic hasn't worked either. So yeah... we should just keep on doing that and not try any different tactics. Ouch, stove hot! Ouch, stove hot! Ouch, stove hot! Ouch, stove hot! It'll change soon I'm sure..... Ouch, stove hot! Ouch, stove hot! ...
cabba2203
It's obvious that alcohol is a problem for many people and therefore society. Why should we add one more mind altering drug to the mix? Yup, they tax the pajesus out of alcohol. Does it cover the cost of enforcement and consequent human carnage? Not a chance. The "Legalize pot so we can tax it" argument don't wash. Neither does legalizing gambling. East Peoria, Il. legalized it so they could tax it. Actually, the state legalized it in it's form and E.Peoria 'won' the right to build a casino.... the cost of enforcement of the c.r.a.p. that comes along with it has spent it all... and then some. Oh, and the casino, a few years ago anyways, was behind on their tax payments... It's not just "to tax it", it is to de-criminalize it and curb the violence and expence of policing illegal drug gangs etc. Just like alcohol, it's obvious that Americans like pot, smoke pot, demand pot and regardless of the squintillions of tax dollars we have thrown into the "War on Drugs" over the past 30+ years it has not stopped it and will NEVER stop it. It's sad when a guy busted for weed does more time in prison than a child molester. It's sad that out local law enforcement has had to militarize itself with the same weapons and tactics as our standing army in order to police the county because of drug gangs from south america. We have all this to thank for the "War on Drugs". It's time to stop this lost cause and think logically.
EVOL!
It's time to stop this lost cause and think logically. Radical idea, brother. I like it, but it would never fly in this country. Too much adherence to our Puritanical past.
