So I am putting together a "Small" home Studio ( It's hard for me to do anything without going over the top)

Heres what I got so far:

DAW - Macbook Pro with Pro-tools and Mbox

Monitors - JBL - LSR4328P

Mic's

Rode Nt-1A Condensor

Shure SM 57's

Shure SM 58's

Want to get 27" MAC Monitor

Suggestions Needed for:

External hard drive

Mixing Board

Tube pre-amp

Control Surface

Mixing desk

Anything Else - Compressors etc...

Thanks for any feedback and experience you can provide!

We used Buffalo storage devices at a previous employer. They were stout, easy to use and reliable

If you're looking for something a bit larger, Newegg also has some 2TB Seagate drives that should perform well.

I'd hesitate to recomend anything else on your list, as it's been many years since I played with mixing and recording gear.

If your MacBook Pro has Firewire 800 like mine (the 13" ones don't, but the 15" do) I'd make sure the drive had

a bus for that and not just USB. Might as well take advantage of that speed. The drive Chan mentioned above

looks to have Firewire 800, 400, and USB interfaces. [thumbup]

Yeah I got the 15" model with firewire no USB 3 yet though.
