lazarusvt84 Posted December 30, 2010 Share Posted December 30, 2010 I have the Spider Valve (40W tube-Bogner) and it sounds excellent expecially for only a single 12 inch....in some ways better than my son's Vox AC30 and much better than his Spider III 212....particularly if you play clean, or with minimal other built-in effects. I don't tinker with the various amp models, etc....I simply dialed up four simple presets with increasing gain...the fourth with some flange/chorus/distortion for when I play Rush. Playing softly and switch to a different preset and all the fish in the aquarium float stunned to the top of the tank. I got the Pocket Pod recently and it does the same thing. I was playing some generic punky/metally rythm whilst someone else clicked through the presets just to get a taste of what they sounded like and I almost deafened myself. The difference in volume between some of them is huge. Other than that (and the fact my overly fussy amp hates it - I blame the amp) I quite like it. I've not tried their amps though.
