Witmer Posted January 10, 2011 Share Posted January 10, 2011 I should preface this by saying that if it makes me a wuss to hate lugging my mesa combo around, then I'm a wuss. I love that amp, but when practice is me and a guy with an acoustic guitar and no mics, hauling the 60W tube amp and running it on 1.5 is just miserable. So for Christmas my wife got me this 10W Fender Frontman: Yes, it's solid state, but it sounds like a Fender to my tin ears, and I use a pedal for my dirt anyway. And just as importantly, it puts out enough volume (with reasonable low-end) for practice while literally weighing less than my guitar. I also think it's kind of cute that it looks like a black-face that got shrink-ray-ed. My first new gear in four or five years, and I'm very pleased with it. Just had to share. How big is the speaker in that? Mine has a 6" and I wasn't sure anything smaller would sound good. I guess now I know it does. =) Good for you.
