SamBooka
Hi, Forgive me for posting here but the Gibson forums dont get much action. I do have an Epiphone Emp Reg and a couple of Valve Jrs so excuse this offtopic post. I have an early 60s ES-125. I have heard that that those pickups are an odd size. Lollar talks of tall P90s for Les Paul Jrs. Short P90s for Casinos but then says the 125 is special (in between). Anyone know the dimensions or if someone makes these pickups? The pickup that came with mine had the original base and hopefully the original poles/magnets but the bobbin was replaced with some freaky thing that was too tall. I swapped a different bobbin that was maybe 1/16 shorter but is still about 3/32s too tall. I emailed Lollar but they havent gotten back to me. Fralin says nothing about short P90s on their site. Not many other places do Dogears. Thoughts? I might get a stewmac bobbin and try cutting it to size and winding my own (I have a pickup winder that is about 60% complete ) but I would like to know the correct height of the bobbin. Thanks Drew
wiggy
HI Can't help with dimensions (no doubt someone will come along who can) but might be worth dropping these guys a line Bare Knuckle Pickups They wind Dog Ear P90s, have a superb reputation for quality, are reasonably priced AND are unbeleivably helpful. tweed2
Try Pete Biltoft at Vintage Vibe Guitars. He might have some ideas. He's always been very helpful to me.

SamBooka
Ok, Bareknuckle pickups answered and they cant help. I havent contacted Vintage Vibe but wasnt happy the last time I dealt with them (I know other people have had better luck but I am stubborn). I emailed Curtis Novak for his 5 cents. It is that or a Lollar at this point. EDIT: Funnybut I cant find an email address for Fralin's

There are a lot of very knowledgeable people there including a fair number of winders who will probably be able to give you the info you need or at least point you in the right direction. http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/pickups/
