oneal lane
Having played Strats always, I am new to the world of LP I have a vague knowledge about LP guitars, and that older LP are not "chambered" and some newer LP are "chambered" to lighten them etc. I bought my first non strat electric and its a 2009 LP Plain top. Are these guitars "Chambered"?
AnthemBassMan
-Correct. The only so called chamberings on regular Epis are nothing more than the wiring channels. Here's part of the wiring channel on my '02 Classic for a visual. L8R, Matt
midiman56
For a little reference, here is a picture of the chambering that Epiphone does on the aformentioned Les Paul Ultra and Ultra II: I think that a lot of the time there is some confusion between "chambering" and what Gibson refers to as "weight relief". In weight relieved guitars, Gibson drills nine holes into the guitar to take off some of the weight and then covers those holes with the carved maple top. AFAIK, no Epi guitars are weight relieved ... but I am prepared to be corrected on this! Jim
Gary Moore Tribute
I HAVE a chambered Gibson LP 08 it definately helps with the weight. The easiest way to confirm it, is knocking the top like you would a door in places I can say tho that neither my 09 standard or custom epiphones are chambered tho...
