Few dings and a touch of weather checking on the upper bout, but it's in pretty good shape other than that. Of course it plays and sounds awesome. How much could I possibly get if I stuck it on ebay? The TVS usually fetch more than the cutaway versions so I base my estimate on that. In the end it's worth what someone will pay you for it. Good luck with your sale. I just wanted to confirm jgwood's guess with my own, based on a method you can use when eBay sales history doesn't give you a better answer. The list on a J-185EC is around $4K, so a dealer would price a used one in pristine condition around $2K and yours at around $1800. Subtract a typical commission and you would (eventually) end up with something in the range of $1300 to $1450 after the sale. While the eBay price and what you can get by selling through a dealer can be quite different for some models, they seem to be pretty comparable for "generic" used guitars. -- Bob R Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
onewilyfool Posted February 24, 2011 Share Posted February 24, 2011 There were a couple of guys on our local Craigslist that were trying to FLEECE this same guitar for $2600...which was a ridiculous price. Both guitars were on at the same price for 6 months before giving up....lol......$1200-1500 is the bluebook on them....but in my opinion the used guitar market is still pretty soft.
