painting FX pedals

Anyone have experience re-painting FX pedals? I am having my Fuzz Face mod'd to original Arbiter specs and would like to give this beauty a cosmetic make over. What paints to use? Can I use Testors model paint? Can I put a primer over the original paint and then paint over top? Do you recommend baking the paint?

I used Krylon Fusion spray to paint a pickguard and after one year it is holding well despite being my beater guitar,

 

Krylon Fusion is designed to adhere to plastics so it should work well to re-paint your pedal, after a few days it cures fully and then you can add graphs/art.

Thanks, but the pedal's housing is metal, not plastic.

I'm pretty sure Zvex uses Testors if that's what you're after. I can't really help other than that.

 

You should check out the BYOC forum. There's lots of info about finishing enclosures there.

But the paint on the pedal is similar to a plastic, unless you are stripping it to metal.
