Jimm3r
Hello, I posted on the "mylespaul" forums and only one person was albeto help me in the slightest about my guitar. The serial says it was made in May of 1999 in Korea. It's an Epiphone Les Paul Studio, and I'm told by the forum that it's a deluxe. The color given by the store (selling it used) was Sea-Foam Green. Yet it's unlike any other Sea-Foam Green's I've seen...it's more like a 57' Chevy Color. The only thing I've been able to find on the internet was someone selling one similar in 2000 making the same guesses on the color as I am, so I figured I'd use that as a visual reference. Unlike the picture mine has a pearl pick guard, with pearl accents and switch plates. Unlike most epiphone studio's it doesn't have dot inlays, it has trapezoid. The tuners are not of the norm epiphone and on the back of the headstock confirms that it is a Limited Edition. Any info that you could give me on this would help so much. A description from when it was sold, a review you've found, personal experience...anything. And most of all, how many were made? Thank you guys so much and I hope some of you can help me :) Guitar Info: Your guitar was made at the Saein Plant, Korea May 1999 Production Number: 0226
BlueEpiphone
I can't help with any info but here's a guitar that more closely matches your description: I'll delete this post if it doesen't resemble yours so as not to confuse anyone. Jimm3r
um..wow THANK YOU. That is exactly it, I'm going to delete my reference and use that one. Im surprised you found that. That's exactly it :) They called it Baby Blue, and in that picture, yes it does look so..but in person it def. looks more green. But that is it. (the picture is actually saved a turquoise)
RobinTheHood
Yes, its a Studio Deluxe - Alnico Classic Plus pickups and trapezoid inlays. The Alpine White models came with gold hardware. All others came with nickel hardware with the possible exception of any Limited Edition colors. The pearloid pickguard is most likely just an extra from being a Limited Edition color. It is entirely possible that other models with the same color as yours came with different pickguards. Oftentimes, you have a choice of PG color or other similar options. As for the color being "seafom green", who knows. Maybe it is...maybe it isnt. It sure doesnt look like any seafoam green I've seen. Maybe some more research will yurn something up. Thanks for your input man! I'm so curious about the actual name for it and how many were made in this color. I love it. I think I'm going to put some better pick-ups in it. I always said that if I was going to buy an epiphone, it either wasn't going to available as a gibson, or rare, I guess I succeeded in both? One person said that it is in fact called Sea-Foam Green, but still was the exact color on a 57' Chevy. As for research, I've been trying for quite some time, that's why I was surprised they found that.
Jimm3r
It's a little bit lighter then this color. That picture up there is exactly it but it doesn't look that light of a color, it looks more green, and this one is a little too dark (could just be the lighting in the pictures? that ones obviously outside and the other in). I'll try to get a camera soon, but you guys get the idea.

That's what I'm saying, it seems like all 3 are slightly different but still awesome ahha Well i think it's kinda cool and unusual I would add one to my wee collection if i saw one when i had spare dosh. Welcome to the Forum btw Thank you, you guys are pretty cool here. I work at a massive guitar store in Baltimore Maryland called Bill's Music House. This seems like my kind of place. The best part of this guitar, is that the person who tagged it had no idea what it was either and sold it to me for $250. I would have easily paid double. RobinTheHood
First of all... LOL. And secondly, I found this: http://webcache.goog...=www.google.com Apparently there was a Turquoise color option available in the 1997 Epiphone catalogue.
Jimm3r
ahah now there you go! That is exactly it, right shade and everything. With a chick in the picture as well lol If anyone could point me towards the way of a 1997 or Catalog? Some day I Gotta figure out how many of that limited edition were available. Did I mention how light this LP is? I dig. p.s. Mine says it was made in 1999, whats up with that? EDIT: p.s.s. I don't think it's turquoise..wrong year, and all the turquoise guitars aren't even close. But that guitar is correct in the picture. I wonder if we could find a 99 catalog? RobinTheHood
From what I understand from that thread, the Les Paul wasnt specifically listed as being available in turquoise. Epiphone has/had a page of color blocks for available color options to choose from. The availability of a specific color may vary between guitars. I think it is safe to say that at least some Limited Edition LP Studio Deluxes were made with the turquoise finish. I know that turquoise was a popular color for the Casino in the late 90's. Sometimes "limited" means they only make so many per year...but they might make them for several years in small numbers or only for certain retailers. Jimm3r
All of the other turquoise LP's I've seen are reallyyy dark blue though. I wonder why it's so hard to figure out for sure? The thing must be super rare.
Jimm3r
So are you saying you'd put your money on it being Turquoise and Not Sea-Foam or another color? BTW thanks for your help and input dude, you're awesome.

Dude! sorry for the triple post, but after reading further in that thread..search for Gibson Kerry Green..I think thats it! Regardless, the Kerry Green is reallly close and now that I know a Gibson Les Paul is out there in it..I WILL own one haha EDIT: I think those guys are right though..it does have a little more blue in the mix..It's probably techn. turquoise. I think I like this color more then all of the Sea-Foams and Kelly's etc..

BTW thanks for your help and input dude, you're awesome. No problem. I like to help. Most of the tuquoise Epiphones that turned up on a Google search for me, have actually been Tans Blue or Limited Edition Bluebursts. Not turquoise at all, but just a misconception of the finish name. I ran in to a couple of Arctic Blues that were mistaken for turquoise as well. I think its a safe bet that it is turquoise. I'll have to see if I have an older Epiphone color chart. Jimm3r
Thanks man, a color chart will probably settle this sometime soon. It's kinda fun finding all these colors I was not aware of just from this one.

Jimm3r
Two different, Sold as a 2000 Les Paul Studio Deluxe Limited Edition Turquoise :) Props, you single handedly cracked the case. I wonder why that one that didn't have the pearl earlier is sooo dark? Maybe that one was fake?
RobinTheHood
Could have been bad lighting or a different model year. Same thing with the pickguard colors...possibly different model years or a swap-out. Some people really dont like pearloid. Glad the mystery is solved!
