Did guitar players hate the Les Paul in 1952?

Continuing with the thought started by Milod...one of the reasons I love the LesPaul is that it is a "bridge" instrument between the older hollow and semi hollow body types and the more modern, totally electric, amplified types of electric guitars, when it was first discovered that a solid body guitar was less prone to feedback at high volumes (somebody still has to tell Ted Nugent about this). The LP is a living "missing link". One look at the old fashioned pickguard raised by a bracket and screw above the top itself will prove my point. There has never been a better, more perfectly designed instrument and there never will be. I am more a Les Paul player than an electric guitar player. I instictively know where all the notes and frets are and the controls are second nature to me. Long may she wave...and RIP Les....a true remarkable genius.
