Gary Moore Tribute
Im after some opinion on the Burstbucker Pro's I bought them for my Flying V and fitted a Full 1958 wiring harness, My big question is ... ARE THEY THE CLOSEST PICKUP TO A 1959 PAF Gibson make?
Marshall Paul
Close but maybe not the closest. According to the official Gibson site the 57 Classic and Classic Plus are first in line for that. http://store.gibson.com/Products/Pickups-and-Electronics/Humbucker-Pickups/57-Classic.aspx Burstbuckers maybe second. http://store.gibson.com/Products/Pickups-and-Electronics/Humbucker-Pickups/Burstbucker-Type-1.aspx Have a look, see what you think. Guest BentonC
The truth of the matter is that the original PAFs had a lot of variation/inconsistencies back then, so we have a range of pickups that suit the originals. The BB 1, 2, and 3 are thought to be the closest to the originals. The 57 Classics are similar, but evenly wound on both coils, so it has a smoother tone overall. vincentw
The BB Pro's are a brighter PAF replica due to the Alnico V magnets used in them vs. the Alnico IIs.
tazzboy
I read some where (I believe it was on TGP)that the Burstbucker are now wound with Poly wire? Is that true or are they still being done with Panel Enamel?
geckobaldy
The BB Pro's are a brighter PAF replica due to the Alnico V magnets used in them vs. the Alnico IIs. Do you mean the BB Pros are a replica of a brighter PAF as opposed to brighter than a PAF replica? Thanks

GySgtFTL
The ones in mine seem a bit harsh. One could say brighter I suppose.
