Malchik
Huh, just found this on Musician's Friend. I couldn't find a topic on this new Wilshire. The Epiphone Wilshire Phant-O-Matic Electric Guitar was designed in collaboration with Frank Iero, guitarist for multi-platinum band My Chemical Romance, and combines an incredible array of features that only Epiphone would dare put in one instrument. The result is one of the smartest and most flexible guitars on the market with all the vintage styling that made Wilshire models a behind-the-scenes favorite of Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Paul Gilbert, and Steve Marriot. Classic Form Like the classic SG design, the Wilshire Phant-o-matic features a double cutaway design with a solid Mahogany body. The 24.75 scale Mahogany hand-set neck has a 1960s SlimTaper profile, a rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl block inlays, a 12 radius, and a 1-11/16 nut. The neck profile and double cutaway make the Wilshire Phant-o-matic a perfect guitar for chunking rhythm or cutting leads. The Antique Ivory finish, black single-ply pickguard, and classic form are eye catching to be sure. But what really sets the Wilshire Phant-o-matic apart from the pack is how it sounds. batwing
What another Wilshire reissue! Why don't they do a Crestwood Deluxe with good mini-humbuckers ?
EpiEric
There actually are a couple of threads on the Phant-O-Matic http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/72109-wilshire-phant-o-matic/page__p__981409__hl__phant-o-matic__fromsearch__1#entry981409 http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/58065-who-is-this-old-friend/page__st__20__p__984113__hl__phant-o-matic__fromsearch__1#entry984113 But I've been tracking this guitar since last November, so I've kept an eye out for conversations about it. It was originally supposed to ship in August and has now been pushed to October. I'm hoping that they don't move it again! Batwing, who knows, maybe they will do a Crestwood Deluxe or Custom. Seems like it would be pretty easy since all the parts are more or less in production on other models right now.
