The Metallian
Hi there! I got my guitar last Tuesday. I have needed to tune it: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.(With Floyd Rose) On Saturday a string broke, so I tuned it several times that day. After that I have tuned it Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Ok, this is a new guitar, but my Ibanez (also with Floyd Rose) I can tune mabe every second or third week. Is this normal for a new guitar? (I always need to tighten the strings) /The Metallian

I recently got the same guitar, the high E broke for no apparent reason. I changed all the strings to D' Addario's, which is the brand I use, and that did the trick. You may need to adust the set up when changing brands, I used 10 - 46 the same gauge that Gibson put on the guitar and I had to adjust the set up even with the same gauge. ESPguy
Make sure the locking blocks on the nut are tight, And put new strings on it.
Morkolo
That and stretch those strings until they won't come out anymore on the tuner before you lock down that nut. It may take a bit longer but it works for me and I won't go out of tune for a weeks playing with heavy bar use both up and down (mine's fully floating much like I would imagine your Ibanez is). The Metallian
Thanks for your answers! (Tommyvee: my high E also broke for no apparent reason!) Problem solved: I changed the tension of the springs. I´m going to change all the strings soon. /The Metallian
The Metallian
Holy **** how good the guitar sounds when the set up is right! Now the guitar is paying back...! /The Metallian
The Metallian
I´m back again. The problem was only temporary solved. I went back to the guitar store with my complaints. I got new strings, dimension 0,11 (Not Gibson), and the 2 springs on the back were changed for 5 springs! (The guitar were completely adjusted, all free of charge) NOW is the guitar as it was ment to be!
The Metallian
It is not fixed, so I´m going back to the store once again. The guitar is on its way back to the Swedish Importer for stated opinion. Remains to be seen what happens now.

I have 3 I my Floyd and have known some people to use 4 on occasion but 5 seems like overkill.
The Metallian
Hello Morkolo! He did that in order to solve the problem "for good". (Perhaps overkill, but he has worked with FR for maybe 30 years or so.) The problem now is that the guitar goes out of tune as soom as you use the arm. The guitar is unplayable. My first Gibson... Rick
On my Jackson's w/FR I have 3 trem springs and they stay well in tuning. I was thinking about buying an Explorer Tremolo but if they all go out of tune so easily...
Archer of Fish
I have one. I love it. THere is some sloppy work in the trem cavity but that is OK...I did some mods And here is the final product: Dimarzio 36th Anniversary PAF in the bridge and neck positions...AWESOME pickups. I also decided to kick up the vintage vibe by adding chrome top hat control knobs.
