The bridge pick up volume knob on my Casino has come loose. Does anyone know how to take off the knobs? I don't want to force them off and end of breaking one. I need to know how to take them off so I can tighten the nut back down?

While I am here as much as I love my Casino, I want to upgrade the foreign parts to US quality parts. Will the Gibson version of the Epiphone Top Hat knobs fit the current pots, or will I have to buy US pots that match? I would like to upgrade the wiring and etc, as I plan on this being the only guitar I will play and want it to last. Thanks for any help.

To use the Gibby knobs the pots will have to be the US variety with 1/4" (6.35mm) shafts, the Asian shafts are 6mm (too small).

Thanks for the info, got it all tightened back down. Wouldn't mind seeing a pick of your '70 SG and Casino

I'll get around to a proper photo shoot one of these days, but here are some of the SG with one of the Casino tossed in.

I'll be making some minor changes to the Casino, too. First thing I did was to make a bone nut, scrape the plastic crud covering the fretboard off and lemon oiled the now bare wood of the fretboard, leveled the frets - amazingly pretty close to start with, but still needed it - sanded and polished the frets, did a proper adjusting of the truss rod (this was way off!), and adjusted the intonation.

Things I am contemplating are swapping out the tuners, not because they aren't any good as I think they are quite excellent and keep the guitar in tune, but because I hate the little bitty buttons. I will certainly go with a set of Grover Antique Gibson Deluxes in Nickel (135N's). If your guitar does not stay in tune, more than likely it's the nut. I keep hearing about changing the pickups, but I find I like them just fine. They are staying. I will eventually change out the wiring with proper Switcraft/CTS stuff, but I will wait till something breaks. Again, they work just fine for now.

I bought the Casino used, in unplayed condition, for a little more than the cost of the hard shell Epiphone case that came with it. I've got it set up with D'Addario 11's, and the action is ridiculously good. Love this thing.

Good looking SG and Casino. I had my tuners changed out with a set of Grover Rotomatics and it stays in tune quiet nicely. I will eventually change wiring, pots snd switch out and probably the nut for good measure.
