gnappi
For about 5 years now I've had a "Joe Pass" model. There are no markings on the guitar to indicate that it's a JP (No signature on the truss rod cover or pick guard) and the orange label inside the guitar says EMPEROR (not EMPEROR II) without the serial number. Wiki has this snippet which could explain the orange label and missing markings: "Epiphone had previously issued the guitar as just the Emperor and with Pass's endorsement" Finally the serial number on the back of the headstock is 7 digits with the S (Sammick?) prefix. The guitar plays like a Byrdland with a fast neck, and mellow acoustic sound. From what Wiki says it's likely a pre full production Joe pass endorsed Emperor made in 93/94. Can it be dated from the serial number?
Parabar
Yes. The 2 digits after the S should give you the year. In some cases, '90's models might only use the last digit of the year, so if the serial number begins "S4..." it would indicate a '94 model.
