RowdyMoon
I always love the Floyd with David Gilmour and with Syd Barrett. Lately I have been looking into more info on Syd because I was always fascinated by his story. What a shame the path in life he was delt..such a talent that would never blossom fully. http://youtu.be/29Fm-83FCvg?t=1s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmgCBOEW-j8

pippy
Syd's life was certainly a tragedy in many ways. Self-inflicted it might have been but it was a tragedy nonetheless. Watching a couple of 'The Making Of..' DVDs (where 'Dark Side...' and 'Wish...' were the subjects) it was interesting to notice how long was the shadow Syd cast over the Floyd even long after his time with the band had ceased. P. hellion102792
He reached for the secret too soon...but made some damn interesting music when he was out of his head. My favorite story is how he showed up randomly during the Shine On sessions (Shine on You crazy Diamond) after no one had heard from him for a couple years ("Nobody knows where you are, how near or how far"). Everybody wondered who was the hairless overweight fellow who had wandered into the back of the studio, talking to himself and brushing his teeth. Turns out it was Syd: The scene in The Wall where Pink shaves off his body hair and eyebrows was actually inspired by Syd's appearance when he found his way into the studio the day Floyd was recording their tribute to him.
