outdoorukulele
I purchased this 1961 Hummingbird, serial number 3993, thinking the pickup may have been installed at a later date. When I photographed the label, I noticed the HUMMING BIRD -ELEC. There is also a stinger on the back of the headstock. Could these possibly be factory modifications? slimt
where are you located? I had one with the factory P90 as well it was also a 61. I believe the serial number was earlier than yours.. Mine was exactly like yours.. I traded for a 51 j50 ..

outdoorukulele
Thanks for your reply. It's great to know that there was another Hummingbird made like this. I couldn't find any information about an electric version. Does anyone know how these options affect the values?
outdoorukulele
I just noticed that the logo on the headstock is not very clean compared to my other Gibson guitars. Were they screen printed black with the name and graphic showing the material below?
Grog
My guitars isn't a '61 Hummingbird, it's a 1970 Les Paul Jumbo. Not many acoustic guitars were produced with a pickup prior to Ovations introduction of the piezo bridge pickup, sometime in the mid 70's I believe. The reason I am posting my guitar isn't because of the pickup, but because of the bridge. Both the '61 Hummingbird & my guitar have an adjustable bridge with two screws to raise it up & down. I see that the J160-E also had this feature. Is this unique to only electric acoustics? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Free-Shipping-Used-Gibson-J-160E-1963-Acoustic-Guitar-/162189045411

Cool.. as for the bridge , that was common on half the era of the 1950s, all 1960s and a few 1970s gibson acoustics..
OldCowboy
Gibson also did a few Southern Jumbos with the same electric option.
