BryanFoFyan
im thinking about putting a tremolo system on my Gibson SG so what are the pros and cons vs the two? how hard are they to install if anyone has done it and the average price of each to have professionaly installed? BigKahune
The Maestro won't cover the stop anchors. If you go with a Vibramate and a Bigsby B5 there's no drilling and the stop anchors are covered.
BryanFoFyan
i got ya. ill look into the vibramate/bigsby. wouldnt the height of the 2 combined or even the bigsby alone keep the lid of an SG hardshell from closing?
Guest BentonC
I don't know about the Bigsby, but the Maestro shouldn't stop the case from closing as long as the arm isn't bent too far up.
jimmiJAMM
Big fan of the Maestro, personally as it adorns my '67 and is simply bad-a$$
BigKahune
Yes, I've got a Maestro - it works great and I really like the look. As others have pointed out before, Vibramate is coming out with a adaptor for installing a Maestro to the stop anchors without drilling. Check it -

Kyle W
I have an SG Special with a Bigsby and a faded SG Special with a Maestro (long box without the Lyre engraving), and I like the Maestro better. My Bigsby wouldn't hold tune, so much so that I pulled the spring out and blocked it off with a Marshall amp knob. The Maestro I have seems to keep tune perfectly for such a simple design, and even though it doesn't fully hide the bridge posts it looks so good I never notice them. I just acquired an old used Bigsby B-5 to install on a Les Paul Special which I hope will do better than my other one (I'm hoping maybe I just got a bad spring or something.) And both fit in their cases with the bar on just fine for me.
