Nelson
Hi ! I´m from Argentina. Could anybody send me (or post) pics of the blue serial number label used on the old Epiphone Casino ? (the John Lennon reissue for example)Thank you so much !! Here's a 1965 label (From a '65 Texan-note the "Union Made" designation-this is what would have been on Lennon's 1965 Casino): Here's one from from a 1971 Japanese-made Epiphone (Note that there's no "Made In Japan" designation): Here's an 1971 Epiphone label with the "Made In Japan" designation: Here's a 1959 label without the "Union Made" designation or even a black label border: Here's a blank Japanese-type label: Does that work for you? Nelson
and to think we had a hand in helping them.. woooohoooo! The blank Epiphone blue rectangular labels and orange Gibson oval labels have been available since the 80's at guitar shows. Anyone with a scanner, some blue paper and a half-way decent art program can make these with little or no effort . The trick is to know what it is that you're buying...and usually the people who get burnt are the ones thinking they're the ones getting away with some impossible deal or bargain. Only buy from reputable sellers and you'll never have a problem. I actually have more of an issue with those who want to accessorize their guitars with authentic black goof rings and pricey truss rod covers to make them more Lennon Casino- like when the origin of the guitar itself was essentially a dumpster rescue...some day that will create some confusion somewhere and someone could get ripped off... Know the guitar, Know the seller. Nelson
duane v
If you ask me, that blue label sticks out like a sore thumb. I wished Epi would have positioned that label away from the f-holes, (there's just no escaping it when taking pictures).. The other label dont bother me as much becase it sorta blends in with the guitar, but still I wished that one too would had been positioned away from the f-hole. other than the above the guitar kicks serious butt :-

If you have further questions about Casinos or any other guitar please feel free to ask and if I know the answer I'll gladly share it with you. I would suggest posting in the electric guitar section though. Good luck. Nelson
