Cat Daddy
I would use a clean cotton cloth and some Gibson pump polish. Cat Daddy
L5Larry
For 35 years I've used nothing but Lemon Pledge, spray, not pump. Inexpensive and available eveywhere. Most of my guitars are nitro finished and range in age from 8-60 years old. A couple of them have been cleaned and polished with Lemon Pledge for over 30 years and still look beautiful. roadhog96
I've tried just about everything over the years and if you want the best go for Virtuoso polish. It can be bought on line at their site or from Guitar Center Stores (NOT at Guitar Center online). They make a cleaner for removing fine scratches and the polish is out of this world. It is the Number 1 choice with just about evreyone at the Les Paul Forum, http://www.lespaulforum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=2 http://www.virtuosopolish.com/ and if you want the best for your rosewood or ebony fret board try fret Docter, for a deep dark rich conditioner., see some before and after photo's at the site, http://www.beafifer.com/boredoctor.htm I highly recomend not using cotton cloths on a Nitro finish, I know Gibson gives you a cotton cloth along with the case candy on some guitars. But, cotton can scratch a Niro finish. MICROFIBER is the way to go, 80/20 blend is very common but 70/30 blend is better. 70% split fiber Polyester 30% Polyamide the more fibers the better, 90,000-225,000 per square inch. the higher the towel wieght the better by the ONCE WIEGHT. Just remember if you use the Virtuoso cleaner to go with the grain of the wood not circular motions,. A nitro finish is not the same as a car enamel finish. You will have the best looking guitar when your done.
Gibson CS
Thanks fellas... No, I didnt get a cloth in my perk compartment. Now I feel left out! The little woman says If I spent as much time polishing the furniture as I do cleaning the guitars, wed be in better homes & Gardens!
MikeRom
I agree with roadhog, Virtuoso cleaner and polish is THE way to go. Don't feel left out for not getting that POS cotton, scratch inducing cloth with your case candy. Microfiber cloths are the best thing to use.
