  1. Wow my old photobucket account is not only still there but still has all my old pictures. Here she is at 2 days old
  2. Not an Epiphone I know but I wanted to share. I bought this guitar new in 2009, number 99 of a limited run of 300. A few years later I was in a situation where I needed to sell it and I did, at a loss. It was never far from my thoughts tho so I reached out to the guy I sold it to a few weeks ago and told him I would like to buy it back which he agreed to which I gotta say was really awesome of him to do. Guy took really good care of it too. Anyway, here she is - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uL7SgJ1AulA3L094zXxuR7WeTW7A7X6A/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aQJrQTMIpjKcZ6XEpfql8zHbpiayHAnM/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nQYPRpRtClHUChf2TTmkZGTk3WXrzoZ0/view?usp=sharing Seems I can't get the size of these pics small enough to post without the links 😞
  3. Sweet looking axe whatever it is 🙂
  4. At first I was thinking koa for the wood type but taking a closer look at the wood grain it looks like mahogany
  5. Wow what a crazy looking guitar. While it certainly has an Epiphone name plate on the neck/body joint nothing else about it looks right. But for 80 bucks it might be fun to dink around with, looks like some serious MIDI stuff going on inside.
  6. I got this one about a year and a half ago. ES339 Pro
  7. Yeah i can see where that would be confusing. The nut securing the tuner in place, not the nut on the neck.
  8. The replacement locking tuners I got (slipshots) where also shorter than the originals but as long as the string hole is above the nut there's no problem. Locking tuners don't need a lot of room for extra winding's.
  9. That looks remarkably like my Gibson Les Paul faded. An incredible likeness -
  10. Congrats! My pictures are on my google drive so I just copy the link and paste here. I agree with your assessment on spending big bucks on a Gibson as I have reached the same conclusion recently myself all tho if a CS-336 were to appear at my doorstep I would not be disappointed. Having owned and still own Gibson's, yeah there is a difference but is that difference worth and extra 2 or 3 grand? The neck is more of a 50's style that's why its a bit wider, you'll get used to it Mine which is a year old now was also very playable right out of the box. Where did you order from?
  11. Gonna need need to see pics as soon as you can put it down long enough. I'll start ... body1 body 2 body 3
  12. Every single guitar that I've ever picked up at guitar center did this to my fingers. They must order the extra dirty fretboard editions. I don't recall that the 339-pro I got from sweeetwater being that bad tho.
  13. Budget is the driving factor but from what you have have described look for something with a 50's neck . The other neck style is a 60's but those tend to be thinner and narrower. Epiphone is a fine choice but remember you get what you pay for so you know ... don't cheap out. Agree with the standard recommendation. After playing one I found myself wondering why I spent so much more for a Gibson.
  14. I've had trouble with the wrench fit when there is a lot of paint gunked up inside the nut. Something like that maybe going on?
  15. I have a fairly new ES 339 and yeah the tuners are weak. I'm leaning heavily towards Planet Waves auto-trim tuners and it won't break my heart if I have to drill. This is my first Epi and the first time I've ever felt the need to change tuners so sorry I can't answer your question (really helpful I know). Gibson deluxe tuners look like they would be a direct replacement .
  16. I have an ES 399 and I agree that it's a really unfortunate place to put the strap button , Having a bit of a pouch, the strings face damn near downward 🙂 Beefing up the upper horn with more wood on the inside and putting the button there would be a good solution.
  17. Is it just me or did all these guitars sound remarkably similar. Maybe it was the amp and effects. I heard minor differences at best. Not that any of them sounded bad or anything, just similar.
  18. I have changed my opinion on the truss rod cover to ... leave it on! Plus I learned something new 🙂
  19. It looks like a custom pro and to my eyes it's authentic except for the Gibson truss rod cover. Gibson truss rod covers never have 3 holes. If I saw that guitar for sale I would pass since the truss rod cover is obviously fake and I would wonder what else is wrong with the guitar. It bothers me more than the football helmet truthfully. Since I'm not sure I mentioned the words truss rod cover enough you know what I would replace before trying to sell it? The truss rod cover. As for resale price I would look at ebay or craigslist to get a feel of what it might go for. The helmet decal will drag down the re-sale price for sure so if that could be removed without damaging the finish it should be if your looking for top dollar. Very nice looking ax tho for sure https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ENCTAWGh--epiphone-les-paul-custom-pro-alpine-white
  20. The goal will always be the same - lowest possible action with the least amount of -or no- fret buzz. Once you get the neck relief set your only other option is to raise or lower the bridge to get that optimal setting. Don't forget to reset the intonation when you're thru. That's how I approach it anyway and how I setup my 339. That's how I setup all my guitars come to think of it. Perfect is an illusion IMO but close enough is very do-able. Have fun doing it yourself! Great way to learn
