Hello gues,
Well... There is indeed an occasional problem with the overly harsh, not very musical high frequencies that HamburgerShins has described. This actually happens in some guitars usually for bridge pickup. There is even a patented method for fixing it (https://patents.google.com/patent/US5908998A/en ).In general, to avoid or reduce the said harshness particularly evident at higher pitches, you just need to increase the inductance of the bridge pickup. This will provide, as stated in the patent, a truer, more pleasing tonal quality in sound of electric guitar. There are 2 ways to do this. First, as stated in the patent, you can add a ferromagnetic material within the body of the pickup, for example, a steel plate between the coils. By the way, I often use this in my pickups. Second, yes, you can just buy another pickup and choose one that has coils with more turns (i.e., more inductance) than that was before.
So, basically a hotter pickup?

Who will be the first guitar-maker, to make guitars that change from aloha-sunburst to bozeman-blue, from one song to the next? 😁

Reserve this item today for only $5.00 (non-refundable). Upon shipping, the remaining balance of $319.00 will be charged. Orders will ship in the order they were placed. Unfortunately, we don't have an estimate as to when this item will ship.
Is this a five-dollar joke?

I’m shocked. I was just gonna rip off all my fretboards and headstock looking for them. And where do you think the battery would be?
The fact you actually called is more funny than Steve posting it.It's a "passive" chip, like on old credit cards, where it just bounces back some code (e.g. serial number), which is then accessible in their database. So no big deal in any case (except for ruining those slabs of precious wood). I think it's all #bs. 😁

I mentioned my Sources.. So unless they’re lying I don’t think I’m confusing them with facts.. Quite the opposite.. I want the facts.
You can look at the new 2023 Martin Specs on Sweetwater, the biggest Guitar Store in America, or whoever & you can read it! Necks used say Mahogany & Tops would specify what kind of Spruce.. New 2023’s Necks are Hardwood & Tops are Spruce…
I’m not exactly sure what facts you’re referring to.. You all are welcome to source the facts yourselve’s…
Like Gibson, & other Guitar Makers Websites, they are seldom up to date & lack much of the documented information about their discontinued, recent or even their newest current Models… That, for sure, isn’t new…..
I think we’ve beat this subject to death! People will believe what they want to believe..
I read it too. There was a link somewhere and the date was recent. So it is not "fake news" in any way or form.
For a manufacturer it's the proper thing to do, to inform their customers of any policy change. So it's a WIN-WIN for everybody.

And just some minutes ago, the second series of THE PROCESS has begun on YouTube, showing how guitars are made in Bozeman, Montana. Wild coincidence, or 2023 coming for great acoustic guitars?
-
And being dazzled everytime by the wonders of price inflation? 😲

Do they use maple for ice-hockey sticks? It might be useful for skids, too.

Never saw these guys before. Personally I am not a big fan of the music "style"... However it is quickly apparent, that they are top-tier as guitarists, technically & artistically! 👍

That's why some Gibby's have compressed sawdust and resin for fretboards. Martin uses it, but only on their lower end Mex junk.
I presume, that it is not Richlite that you are talking about here, but some cheaper way to make lower end fretboards.
Out of curiosity, I Googled Richlite, and it is made from "high quality paper with resin":

Big applause for Gibson, looks like quite a few items made.
The airplane skids were probably mahogany or maple? -

I thought the old Kalamazoo factory was now occupied by Heritage guitars, founded when Gibson moved it operations down to Nashville. And I believe Heritage still uses the old place. Run by those Gibson craftsmen who couldn't or wouldn't move to Nashville.
But an interesting article. I've heard about Gibson's contributions to the WWII effort. The article also reminded me that there was once a company that built home appliances in nearby Belding, MI . It was once under a different name until a man named Frank Gibson, who I'm not sure was or was not related to anyone connected to Gibson guitars. But the other Gibson Co. built;

Yep, the address is Parsons 225.

Why is it you want a D-28? I hear the binding falls off, and we are unsure, do to Martin's deceiving website, that we have to make guesses about what wood its made from.
I owned a D-28 and a HD-28V. Both killer. I just don't need huge booming Dreads in a small bedroom.
The correct anwser is "because it's iconic". Never had a Martin (or acoustic for that matter), but I know its sound from countless songs. No custom shop ambitions, just a normal set of guitars. This music is sheer enlightenment! 😄

Until then a Les Paul Standard (check), LP Tribute Special (check), ES-335 (check)... still in line there's a J45, and a SG 61 Standard. (Also a Fender Tele and a G&L Asat Special). I view the Martin D28 as a luxury! 😁

Where I live, in the sticks, no neighbors, the only celebration was the cyote howling. At midnight! Stepped out to do a little howling with them.
So happy new year to all from Ken*ucky where pot is illegal. Ty Illinois.
My back yard 3 yrs ago in Chester CA. Just b4 trimming. I'm 6' and so is the fence. They tried a dispensary, but no one bought anything. True example of lower crime rate. No one cared bout pot anymore. Law didnt have to bother. It was a relief. They had bigger fish to fry.
.
Is that on the photo what I think it is?

One day, there will be a D28 in my climate controlled wardrobe.
Great title of the thread. 🤣
(And I do agree with it.) -
Anyone know if DEAN Guitars makes Firebird clones?

Now let's lay off blue guitars. Fender does some nice blue finishes:
I would have much preferred the maple Hummingbird in a natural finish, but they only offered them in "Viper Blue" so that's what I got cause I wanted a square shoulder dread with a short scale in maple. It doesn't look too bad. Now if you are just buying a guitar to hang on the wall and stare at, then you definitely should get a color you love. But if the tone and playability come first then the color isn't as important.
Gibson sent me an email this morning with these latest Mod Shop offerings. I hadn't looked at Mod Shop before as I'm all set for electric guitars, but I was amazed how expensive they are for used with blemishes. Guess it works though as they are selling them.
Aaaa!! The Strat!! 🤣 👍
Aaaa!! The H'bird! 🤣 👍 -

Friends also don't let friends buy blue guitars.
We can make some small exceptions, though. When one has a Tobacco Burst LP, a cherry ES, maybe a Vintage burst J45, and a natural Martin D28, you are allowed a blue Strat or LP Special. I could live with that! 😎

I want one that has "Hello, Gibby!" painted on the front.
Does anyone here own, or know of anyone who owns, an olive drab Gibson?
There was one in the Les Paul Owners group on Facebook the other day. It was an LP Special with p90s. To me, they look beautiful in almost any color (except for pajama or polkadot finishes). 😁
I hate throwing things away!
