  1. Yep this is a thing that my Italian luthier , the great LUCIO CARBONE explain to me to work out other than seeing the guitar itself ,to look also at papers if that is a fake or not , the Americans almost always do the number four in this way https://ibb.co/p6Ttbzt same kind of four ........ https://ibb.co/tzJNpY2
  2. You should have the opportunity to look at the paper documents , the Americans use to make the number 4 in a unique way look at that , it looks like real but the service number seems to be a little bit round if i look at the 0 and 6
  3. well .... nope the upper lid is very soft and it basically has taken the form of the whammy bar , at the moment the guitar is safe at home and is kept in vertical position into a cupboard .
  4. well it doesn't come off easily i mean on this model you have to unscrew the screw which is kept and regulated by a nut under it , for that reason is much more convenient keeping it together . ciao Evans from beautiful England ! 😉
  5. Hello there American friends at end of the day i realised that in order to avoid my guitar getting completely impregnated with the not pleasant -for my own taste -odour of the original case i dedided that it was the right choice to change it completely and i d say that with the black plush interior of the new one things have improved a lot and my beloved guitar seems to have gained the fragrance that i wanted it to have like my other guitars have , there's one "but" tho' , i have bought this case ; https://www.thomann.de/intl/gibson_firebird_case_modern.htm which looks like to fit better the guitar in , the only fear that i have is about the whammy bar rest when i close the case ,is this the right position for it when it comes to close the case ? as far as i can see there's seems to be no contact between the upper side of the case which has a kind of ledge just right before the whammy bar , the case locks up well withouth effort and the morbid ledge of the case over the bridge seems to get in contact in a minimal way with whammy just when it is completely closed , indeed it has taken its form , is there any danger for it ? what do you make of that ? https://ibb.co/fS48VSy this is its original case which i kept open as far as i possibly can and it has improved yep , but i believe that kind of fabric that they made to store custom shop guitars is not good at all . https://ibb.co/F5yHD6X Cheers ! and Forza America !
  6. Well in actual fact i wanted my new case with the GIBSON CUSTOM SHOP sign only but the original GIBSON sign was really hard to get rid of so i decided to keep them both adding the decal GIBSON CUSTOM SHOP on it as well . https://ibb.co/N2jMYr4
  7. https://ibb.co/k30sRvd https://ibb.co/C8DTMCK epiphone firebird worn cherry 2011 model thanks
  8. oh Gosh merciful this summer i went to Eastbourne to visit the city and the pleasure pier there the weather was beautiful and made plenty of dives into the sea it was beautiful i wanted to reach portsmouth but unfortunately i didn't , as for the guitar yep i'm really satisfied the quality is unbelievable
  9. Well as i was expecting this guitar is a valid alternative to firebirds the quality is superb sound punchy and round fantastic ! and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg , and it could be payed in three instalments with just a revolving credit card , Dear Gibson isnt it time to learn something on how to sell guitars to a wider audience https://ibb.co/qJ9pJ8h https://ibb.co/1T2wPNL
  10. Dear Gibson now we are waiting for a GARY ROSSINGTON signed of the guitar , and not only that a FIREBIRD III of Mr. ALLEN COLLINS and a LES PAUL ED KING version all at reasonable prices . If you sold all these guitars over this century is only thanks to LYNYRD SKYNYRD who have invented the American sound of country rock and of the three attack guitars throughout the world . Thanks GARY , our hearts goes out to DALE and her daughters for such a loss .
  11. In Italy from the 1th of April the will go up by 13% ................well it looks like we will kiss them goodbye , second hand market has plenty of beautiful Gibson's that people want to get rid of and the second hand market of the custom shop is going through the roof
  12. hello everybody i bought a second hand epi firebird that seems to work very well problem is that i need to change the humbucker rings but i don't know which is the right size i got a couple of di marzio but they didnt fit in second problem the hole of the screws are a bit flat but i don't want neither to change the screws nor to enlarge the hole in the wood how can i fill the pot of of the screws in order for them to keep the rings firmly to the body third question guys , are these pick up original epiphone firebird model year 11 ? https://ibb.co/C8DTMCK https://ibb.co/2tCmCFK https://ibb.co/k30sRvd https://ibb.co/sQ6M7dV thanks to everybody CIAO !
  13. The "American made " is expensive problem is that when we talk of Gibson sometimes they crafted crap guitars and you realised that you only paid the "GIBSON TAG "
  14. sure i will mate ! but my sense tells me that is way way ahead of the firebird T gibson produced in 2019 which were crap , very bad made indeed !
  15. Well i have ordered one today my idea is that these guitars are well built , i took a vintage white as i do not like active pickups , but what drew me most of this guitar is that is built like a firebird neck through and it has got just one pot for volume and one for tone and the switch in between with spilttable push and pull mode
  16. Very interesting indeed i was looking for an EPI firebird with humbuckers but it looks like that this guitar is made much much better than that and it doesnt cost an arm and a leg
  17. Have anybody tried one of these ? i'm looking for another firebird but prices tell me that this one is more convenient and maybe better . https://www.espguitars.com/products/21870-phoenix-1000#comments
  18. I have a PRS custom model year 1997 i have already made a crowning on frets but seeing some videos on u tube on refretting those guitars and it looks like you see horrendous damages on the fretboard that it makes me think not to refretting it in the future tho'
  19. well.... on you Tube there's an interview with Paul Reed Smith on refretted guitars , he stated simply that when a guitar -maybe one of theirs - need to be refretted is a doom and gloom guitar or better a beyond repair guitar and we are talking of frets , a just wonder what it means having a broken repaired headstock on a firebird guitar with seven strings pulling at that strenght
  20. thanks so much mate , the fact is that i want to buy another one actually i'm looking for an epi firebird reverse with humbuckers but it is easy to pick one with a headstock restored and i do not know really how you spot them when the fix is done well .
  21. Hi guys as far as you can tell there's a probability that this headstock was broken and subsequently restored ? i have seen very scary video on u tube on how they restore headstocks that now i fear for it as well ( phelam blue guitar year 2015) thanks to all https://ibb.co/H7X9Nkb https://ibb.co/T8m6s5S https://ibb.co/H71LYMw https://ibb.co/JtLnv65
  22. Hiya guys I need to remove a Gibson decal logo on a new case to replace it with a new one ,do you know how to do that in a professional way ? Thanks
  23. Hello there folks i'm about to buy an epi firebird which looks like a good deal problem is that the bridge tend to get out from the body i wonder whether is it in a good state of repair or is beyond repair as the strings tend to pull it over ? thanks for your help https://ibb.co/ZKLYD7s
  24. Look mate i separated the two materials , guitar and case and i m quite convinced that the wood of the guitar is not right for the material and the linen inside the case , i have a PRS custom of the year 1997 and it still smells like new and it doesnt leave bad odours on the left hand when you play and the body is odourless like it should be, which i think that is your main problem , other than the stench on the body which is a consequence of the of the mould build up on the strings and left rot it inside the close case which in turn has affected the upper part of the case and spread everywhere . In any case i believe that the plush linen inside the cases is much more better than the rigid material that they use in the custom shop series but at the end of the day it depends on where you store the case and being careful not closing the instrument in the case when the strings smells of rust .
  25. Well i have had the same problem it is not stink really is the beginning of mould odour which i believe the case passes on to the guitar , the first thing i have done is to separate the guitar from the case , i put the guitar in a gig bag and let the case open for a while and things have improved both on the guitar and the case , now i close the case empty with a vanilla arbre magique not in contact with the fabric and a couple of d'addario anti humidity envelope and when i open it it doesn't stink but i will never ever put that guitar in there at all it looks like , as it were , the two materials didn't go hand in hand, also i reckon that the worst thing to do is trying to wash the fabric with something it will only worsen the situation and you will end up up throwing away the case , the only solution is putting the guitar in a brand new case so that it can pick up the odour of the new case and using the old one for a less valued guitar to see if it gets along well with that kind of laquer .
