Haha I'll take that as a vote for 12 frets? I'm sure you've explained in other posts why you love them so much, but give me the elevator pitch?
-
Just stumbled upon this and was curious. Anyone ever owned/played one of these? Have really been wanting a 12 fret but don't really like the looks of the new Keb Mo for some reason. And other suggestions on a Gibson 12 fret?
-
No, but I did try them on my J-45 and didn't like them. Lost a lot of the punch and growl when you light into it.

I'd second the LG-2 American Eagle. Got one about a year ago and love it. Not sure why they run cheaper than others but it's a great deal.
-
Have you tried a warmer tone string? Something like Martin Retros might tame the high end.

That is beautiful. Thank you for sharing it!

So, I have no idea how old this LG that she's playing, but it's amazing how well it sits in this mix.

Nice! That's a tremendous crack repair. Maybe it's the photos, but it looks as if it was totally refinished in that area. Bet it feels good to have it home.

Yes, good for you! Can't wait to see pics and hear a clip. Congrats! Finding the one is a magical moment.

You want one for the same reason as I want you to post a link if they're selling another...sounds fantastic.

Maybe it's just my computer but I can't see any picture.

The second half of the video is the actual acoustic sound where I think you can tell a difference. As folks have talked about before the big 50s chunky neck is a pretty noticable difference. Now if that accounts for a difference in sound I guess is still up for debate.

Both sound great, but I'm so glad I got the 50s instead of the standard!

I'd definitley suggest the J-45. I've also got a really low singing voice and it contrasts poorly with too bright a guitar, which is why I went for th J-45 in the first place. Just my 2 cents.

Definitely take it back. I've many Epiphone's with that same headstock and the pegs don't get remotely that close. Beautiful guitar (I love that big giant pickguard!) but that's going to be an issue forever.

Love knowing there's a connection to this forum! Have long watched this guys videos and seeing these two being worked on by this skilled luthier has been my favorite so far. Can't wait to see--and to hear--how amazing these two will be!

Stapleton played (and still does at times) an old sunburst LG that apparently he's had for years--and it looks it.
-
To be fair, it's Epiphone in name only, right? It's out of the Gibson shop, so it's all solid (and aged) wood built in the good old U.S. of A, so isn't it basically a Gibson at the end of the day?
-
I've seen a number of clips where Stapleton playing this (or at least a version of this with the double pickguards) so I know that he does play it, along with a great sounding and beat to hell LG2 (I think).
-
Oh, wait--aged top--missed that. There's your 1k. . .if that's worth it. 🙂

Agreed, Missouri--I like it a lot too. Crazy, though, that a double pickguard and a known name add a full grand to the price. Maybe there are some other differences I haven't noticed yet (admittedly I haven't looked hard), so who knows. But the look of the double pickguard actually makes that guitar far more attractive. Not 1k more, but just saying.
Here's a more realistic demo, and it sounds fantastic.

Thanks, Zombywoof. And no, I'm guessing your 1932 is a bit steeper of a price than is in my range!
Also curios as to why this listing has been up there for so long. Seems a bit high but with a custom shop label and a baked top maybe not so much?
