  1. I first heard David Lindley playing Weissenborn on Shawn Colvin's 'Polaroids', from her Fat City album. Totally spellbinding.
  2. Hi I'm Andrew from Dorset on the South Coast of England. I'm new to the forum after buying a 2010 Gibson 1930's AJ Limited Ed' in December last year. I've been looking for my dream guitar for years but I didn't really ever consider Gibson til a friend bought a SJ recently. I played it, loved it and then when I saw the AJ in a local(ish) guitar store it was love at first sight as well as first strum. The Adi 'top, rosewood B+S and longer scale fit me very well. Couldn't be happier! Hello to all πŸ‘‹
  3. I've had several guitars with Hiscox cases and they are supplied as standard by several guitar builders in the UK and Ireland - Lowden, Brook, Fylde, and Yamaha also use them. They are tough, and what I like about the aluminium closure system is that it forms a good seal and the catches on the lid don't have any protruding elements that would put holes in your guitar front should the lid fall down at just the wrong time 😱
  4. New Song "Holding Pattern" released on Spotify today. They played it for the first time at the gig I saw - Sara Watkins played a small guitar on the track, Sean played the Gibson, and Chris clicked his fingers. It was spellbinding.
  5. I've been listening to, and blown away by, Nickel Creek since their first album came out in 2000, but I only just got to see them live for the first time in London last month. It was one of the best gigs I've ever had the privilege to attend. Sean has recently been playing an LG-2 he was given by Jackson Browne, and I think that's the guitar he's playing in the "Strangers" video posted above. He talks about it in this interview at 5:30
  6. I think you're right, it doesn't look like BRW to me. It doesn't matter too much to me either way, but it would be nice to know for sure.
  7. Those are interesting pictures Dave, thanks 😊
  8. I've just had the following reply back from Gibson Customer Service: "From the details around the order we are guessing Brazilian Rosewood, but we could not find the spec' sheet to be 100% sure. Kind regards" So now I'm excitedly more confused!
  9. I've just noticed your thread from Feb 2012 regarding fabric side supports. You posted a pic of your LG-2 but it's no longer available to view.
  10. Do you know anywhere I could see a picture of what that looks like Dave? Googling it doesn't yield much.
  11. It looks like it's pretty random zombywoof. My AJ 1930's Ltd Ed is a 2012 model. I would prefer it to have side supports of some kind as the B+S are Madagascar Rosewood and I'd hate them to split either through natural wood movement or it the guitar took a knock. I've built a few guitars and have contemplated fitting some to the AJ myself, but then thought that perhaps I was just being a bit too neurotic! πŸ˜… Also, I don't know what type I'd fit, wood or fabric, to keep it authentic. Thanks again for your input.
  12. That’s just the kind of info I was looking for zombywoof. Thank you very much. I’m new to Gibson ownership and just don’t know much of this stuff. As a lifelong acoustic guitar fanatic and builder myself it means a lot to know the details. πŸ‘πŸ»
  13. Ok gearbasher, that's helpful. Thanks. Nice hub btw πŸ˜‰
