  1. I'm surprised noone has bought up the fact that Angie was originally titled Aung Kyi. It was written when Keith was going through a period of deep Buddhist reflection (as he is want to do). It was his homage to Burmese Nobel Laureate and activist Aung San Suu Kyi. He composed it in a hotel in Burma on a traditional Burmese harp known as a Saung- Gauk. A 14 string instument, but Keith usually takes one string off. It was composed in the Burmese key of Q. Hope that has cleared things up.
  2. There is no shame in admitting you got something wrong Anthony.
  3. Yea.great double.like to hear that texan.there are a few aussie posters in the acoustic forum.where are you based?
  4. A bonzer cover! to translate my strine - wonderful.
  5. Liked it.Good song.World weary vocals suit perfectly , well recorded guitar - made for a good listen. Nice one Mr Static.
  6. ha!! Dogs begin to bark! I haven't been around much lately glad I popped in to catch that one..
  7. "whiffy skills, whiffy sounding guitar no matter what the headstock or price-tag says. '......hahah..Mel Bay's "Whiffy Skills for the Intermediate Guitarist' is one of my favourite how to books!
  8. Thanks Mr Pepper...great to hear from Belgium!

  9. Thanks for the info Larry...there was a J-60 on Oz ebay a while back...it was well priced and somewhat tempting...nice guitar

  10. Beautiful song...smoothly played...I like that style a lot
  11. Sal this is excellent. This would sit well on any album.Your production skills are really hitting the spot
  12. The end result sounds brilliant- both songs.......was the second song just standard tuning? Nice to have that flexibility of using the thumbpick in that way.
  13. They were both terrific Mr G. Second one reminded me of Jacques Brel. Good stuff indeed.
  14. really liked that Dan...reminded me of something / someone but i can't put my finger on it yet-that said it was a unique piece of work. You have an individual style in your playing and singing that's very listenable. You should post in the main area, get a bit more feedback there.new SJ is a class act.
  15. Nice one Dan.Good slice of life song and a cool performance by yourself.I usually miss stuff posted in this thread, glad i looked for change.I find i'm using the "high" mic setting on the Q3HD now instead of the auto...sometimes i seem to get better results with that.
  16. I agree EA...we have to pay a bit more here as you know...but I'd say $1800 max
  17. Yep I remember a couple of your clips Anne...and agree with your assessment.
  18. Thanks guys.I've just asked a question of the guy pointing out what seems to be mistakes in his description.I've also asked what "vintage Gibson" he has just bought (which was the reason he gave for selling)..........just out of curiosity...
  19. Thanks Steve...is the guy's description wrong(curly maple)...are you saying Bubinga because of the photos...or have I misread something...I also just noticed he says crown markers on the fretboard...that's not right either...has he copy and pasted wrong descriptors?
  20. One of these has been on Oz Ebay for a while-2005 Maple B&S. Price is too high so I guess that's why it is not selling. Are these very different to to a J-200. Besides the cosmetics...are they a much lesser guitar..slightly smaller..ie not such a full sound. I've looked at old threads here and also some Youtube clips.....seems quite appealing. Maybe a lowball offer might pick it up eventually. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gibson-J100-Xtra-2005-Acoustic-Guitar-w-built-pickup-/320810226605?pt=AU_Musical_Instruments_Instruments&hash=item4ab1c793ad
  21. AS maybe you are a bit hard on this bloke...he clearly states these guitars are "in Gibson style"...even says "This is not a Gibson guitar"...there is no Gibson branding...I guess the ethics of such a slavish copy can be questioned...but it's not really counterfeit is it?Recording King has a slope shoulder that is a dead ringer for a J-45. Disclaimer I bought a Martin parlor copy off him...Martin don't make the model anymore, very early model...no Martin branding on it...and for $450 I sure knew it wasn't a Martin and he wasn't saying it was.
