  1. I figured someone else would have already posted this but guess not. I remember as a kid, hearing The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald on the radio and being mesmerized by that song. He was a great songwriter to say the least.

    RIP Gordon.

  2. A few weeks ago my buddies and I had a group text going and we started some thing where we all would record ourself singing/playing a song and share on the text. I wanted to surprise them with something unexpected, so I grabbed my guitar unplugged and did a verse of Year Of The Cat. They weren't as impressed with it as I was impressed with myself. [cool]

I last stocked up in late 2021, a bottle of Cristal was $239 or so, picked up three.  Today?  $349, no box.  Holy crap.

I've never had Cristal, so I can't comment on cost. But I can complain that I used to get Eagle Rare for about $33-$40, not it's over $100 just because some hipsters decided that it was trendy a few years ago and it flies off shelves as soon as it comes in.

  4. Sorry to hear of your loss.

I've lost some band mates too and know how it feels. Even if it's on a small-time level, there's a certain bond with people you make music with, have jams and play late night gigs with. Their absence is felt. But their memory lives on every time you play.

    Condolences.

    Heck, yea.

I haven't seen Dave and Gillian out much lately. Hope everything is okay.

Yeah. Not as many big, recognizable names this year as in past, but the music is always great and we have a blast. 4 days of freedom and camping and music.

Trampled By Turtles and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong are two other mentionables.

  6. It's 8:50am here and I literally just got in from a gig last night.

I worked yesterday and was just about to leave when my buddy Steve texted me asking if I wanted to play that night in Kent Island. The Island Pub had a cancelation and they called us. I said let me check with my boss (wife). [cool] She was cool with it but was concerned about me going over the Bay Bridge, as there was severe wind warnings.  I said "it'll be fine".  Famous last words!   I went home and changed clothes, grabbed my KokoCaster and headed out. The drive over the bridge wasn't bad.  The gig went good. Nothing too interesting to mention, other than as we were playing the 1st set and watching Os game on the TV. Os were winning 8 to 7 with 2 outs in the 9th inning and the last Boston batter hit a pop fly to Left Field. The whole bar cheered as they expected an Orioles win and a 2 and 0 record start of the season. But the cheer quickly turned to a groan as the Left Fielder dropped an easy fly ball. The very next batter smashed a two run homer for a walk-off Red Sox win! [cursing] That sucked the air out of the room for awhile, but life goes on and we cheered them back up as the night went on. Plus there was March Madness games also on to distract from the Os loss.

But, as I went to leave at the end of the night, I checked my phone and saw that they closed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge due to wind. I was stuck! I went back to Steve's house for the night. He lives only 5 minutes away from the bar.  At least now I could have a few drinks without worrying about driving home. And now, once again my wife can rub it in my face that she was right. [biggrin]

  7. My friends niece's husband ( how's that for a few degrees of separation?) had an aggressive form of cancer. He was a very active young guy, so he wasn't going to sit around moping waiting to die. One of the things they did before he passed was to go to Norway and view the Northern Lights. It was literally on his bucket list.

The trailer is probably far more entertaining than the whole movie.   Ludicrous but based on the fact that once a bear did find and eat a stash of coke......set in Knoxville, Tennessee.

When I saw the title of your post, I thought to myself "I bet he's talking about Cocaine Bear". Sure enough I was right.  [biggrin]
