Here's part of my acoustic rig. The AG100D isn't in this pic.

Guess that's better than a "Case of two tails"!
Far cheaper...

It may be a tragedy in most people's eyes but I look at it this way: it survived. It can live on, warts and all. If it had a good neck set and sounds as good as they claim, I think I'd leave it as is. New tuners maybe.
Would I pay $8000? No.
I'm in this camp.

OR - as I opined earlier - it is an abrasion that occurred AFTER it left Bozeman.
That's what I said, too.
It looks like a scuff to me.
Not a warranty issue.

Yea, but that's like an El Camino.
It's not really a very good car, nor is it a very good truck...

I found one difference for anyone interested. At least in 2018, the nut with was listed as 1.725, right now, on Sweetwater, it is listed as 1.724.. seems strange to shorten the nut by 1/1000 of an inch.
It's called "shrinkflation".
It's been around for years, but it got really bad starting in Jan. 2021.

The best pickers play bluegrass.
The ones who can't keep up play other genres.

Maybe the bridge got broke and they "fixed" it🤪
Now that you mention it, that's not a very good selling point.
My truck has a fixed grille.
Ad in paper: 2019 Mustang for sale. Fixed windshield.....

One person wanting to force their opinions on another person is one thing.
Seems like half the people have this affliction.
When they all get together and try to remove the freedoms of the other half, is when the problems arise.

The bridge with the wire is the ABR-1.

Man, that would have been a cool piece though.

Tell that to the Buyers of Mark Knopflers' Guitars that sold for $11 Million Bucks at Auction a week ago or so.. There many others too.. Provenance has a lot to do with the value of a Vintage Instrument..
You're right.
I didn't mean to be so rude.
I paid extra for provenance on my mandolin.
Good point, Lars.
Again, my apologies.

What the hell does a hit record have to do with a rare and vintage, and beautiful I might add, guitar?
The Bee Gees were a pop band, but nobody considers them important in the world of rare and vintage guitars.
Did Clarence White ever have a hit record? Tony Rice? Doc Watson? Norman Blake?

Was this model used on Hit Records by a great Session guy or famous Artists?
Obviously, you didn't read the story.

It just looks like the heel got scuffed up.
Not a warranty issue.
That's why we turned the thread into a jam session.
Like we do most other threads....

They could do it with the F-holes and then have a snap in wood section to blank them off if feedback presented a problem.
I always thought they could use a black rubber type material that would seal, be silent, and still "look" like a dark hole.
You're welcome, Gibson.
Send the check....

Thanks for the kind words, that was co-written with a friend who has since passed. A great writer, and a great guy.
My square neck is a cheap Fender, but it has a much bigger, warmer tone.
I wish I could get my better half to get back on her fiddle.

It sounds great for the price. Like I said, I don't play it much. Or very well....

We were goofing off yesterday afternoon and headed into town to ride a couple Mule resonators.
I'd love a Mule, but they're pricey for a "part time" reso player.
I bought this Recording King used and love it. The tuners are cheap, but they work.

The pics and the story are well worth a few minutes of your time!
Indeed.
Perhaps the coolest Norlin ever built. Certainly one of them.
I imagine those were damned tough times for the employees.
Thanks for the link.

When I owned an ES-339, it hung on the wall with everything else. It's gone. It hung where the J-15 that replaced it is.
Mine only get cased to travel.
