Tuners are fine on mine but not quite as good as rotomatics. I probably won’t change since it’d involve reaming the holes to fit the threaded bushings of the grovers

You'll feel the BIG one...
I genuinely hope you’re not living in fear of that

Now I’m sidetracked because that’s one of my favorite movies. Favorite scene is where Joe Pesci is explaining the painting of the dogs in the boat

We just had a little quake a couple weeks ago only slightly smaller than this one at the epicenter.
I didn’t even get up off the couch. California is quite different than Morocco. I’m not too worried

If I’m gonna be honest I think the only chance this has of being collectible is that it’s just such a hideous and stupid collab maybe a few people will like it ironically
I just can’t imagine anybody wanting this thing for what it is. Maybe somebody like trogly would buy it cheap to make a video about it

Cheerful comments. That's quite a statement to make. Do you actually like music?
The overall best album (which charted) I can think of since 2000 is probably “In Rainbows”.
Bodysnatchers was the biggest hit and a great song. 15 Step was used pretty prominently in the movie Twilight which like it or not was a cultural phenomenon that year
Almost nobody on the forum will like this music because of Thom Yorke’s voice but for me that was an album where every single track was a masterpiece and really pushed what is possible creatively and in the studio

Nice looking axe. If you’re having intonation issues with the unwound G, check out the mojoaxe compensated wraparound. Expensive but does what it’s supposed to do and looks stock

I like the way you did that. Very discreet and no finish touch up work. I’ve thought about changing the Nashville on my SG to an ABR but the original bridge has worn down nicely from my hand and it would be a shame to change it now. I figure if I’ve played it enough to wear down the metal I clearly like the guitar well enough as is
really really good looking SG here though. Love your mods and the whole look of the guitar

That guitar should have been sold as a second. I wouldn’t be comfortable paying full price for that at all

Conratulations on your new acquisition.
If anything ever happens to it, Buck will put on a new blade and refurbish it for $30 shipped.
I sent one in I had since probably 1978 and it came back looking like new (and it was pretty hammered).
I wonder if that applies to their chisels. All my buck chisels are trash. Probably cheaper to just buy new ones

If you type “CC Dutchburst” into google you’ll get more info than anyone here knows off the top of their head
I would be shocked if the pickups are potted though. It is unusual for Gibson to pot their factory installed pickups, especially for a custom shop reissue
-
Great looking SG. The guard and pickup rings are the chef’s kiss 🤌
What’d you use for the ABR-1 conversion?

Dang, I'd better check my looms whilst I have the chance...
Lol yes those guys are pretty proud of themselves. And that dork who’s putting insulation on the grounded insulation between the pots 😂
Looks cute I guess

Satin lacquer has an additive that makes it dry with that satin look. The satin finishes are not meant to be wet sanded or polished after their final coat.
You can polish a satin finish so that the surface is smooth and shiny, but the lacquer itself won’t have the clarity of normal gloss lacquer
Keep in mind that many Gibson guitars with “satin” finishes also skip grain filler on the mahogany, so in that case you will never get those parts looking the way they do on a gloss Gibson
I understand this product is made for guitars but it’s probably essentially what you normally call swirl remover
you could get a buffing pad attachment for your drill (separate pad for each grit) and medium, fine, and swirl remover paste and do this much more efficiently

Of of the workers at the grocery store I shop at has been looking forward to this for months. When I first heard about it Ozzy was on the bill but had to cancel. Not sure if it was Ozzy or Sabbath

Looks great Steve. How are you liking the results?
Did you remove the pickups, tuners, knobs, etc?

I get it, they're pursuing the fans of someone I've never heard of before. They feel he has a lot of subscribers, ergo a lot of potential customers.
I've done deep dives on YouTube before, watching reviews of guitars or pedals or amps, and not once have I ever come across this person, so it confuses me, especially since he's not actually a member of a group or band.
My Gibsons predate the artist replicas, the "R" reissues and the VOS line, certificates of authenticity, and the internet in general.
Gibson has evolved to capture the people who buy with the click of a mouse, people who are most likely to be influenced by someone that asks for "likes" on his channel, I guess that's savvy.
Sure is a tough world for a boomer these days. YouTubers with guitars.. sheesh
Back in my day you bought a guitar with cash or check. The amount of tone particles lost to a digital transaction is staggering
-
That’s sad news. It makes sense why he was selling his collection recently. Hopefully the 59 stays in the family
-
Btw keep in mind that while OOP you don’t need both volume pots maxed out. If one is backed off you get less cancellation. So you can further shape the sound that way
-
I remember when you did that you were dissatisfied with the volume drop when OOP. Just letting you know it’s gonna be the same way and the way people make it work is by having an overdriven compressed tube amp and using the volume controls

I'd practice on a "junk" guitar before attempting to mess up a LP. Your hand if not careful can burn insulation, possibly those poly caps if you got those, and even the nitro if you touch the iron to it. Not to discourage, but see what your current capabilities with the iron are is my recommendation. Practice makes perfect of course. Good luck!
As long as he doesn’t mess up the finish it’s really pretty low risk. If he burns a cap he’s out like $.05
My advice is to go into it with a proper soldering iron which is powerful enough to create a proper joint on the pot housing.
A powerful iron compared to a weak one is kindof like cooking a steak on a ripping hot cast iron skillet vs an aluminum non stick pan. When the steak hits the cast iron, the cast iron is hefty enough to stay hot. When the steak hits the aluminum the pan cools down considerably and has to work hard to come back up to temp

I used to have an old little peavy solid state amp that was pretty much nothin special but sounded really good. If I could get that amp again I’d buy it in a heartbeat
-
I need to mature some too. Richard Fortus sounds like Latin for a guy who lifts weights with his hog

I think this looks amazing but who is this even aimed at? Ultra hardcore Kiss collectors? The price is absurd
