Somewhere off in the distance, a 23-year-old multi-millionaire cries herself to sleep in her mansion because she has failed to earn the respect of the Gibson forum flies. 😭

Let’s be honest her music is weapons grade psychological torture type dogshit

That could easily replace water boarding in Guantanamo but it’d be too unethical

If I were forced to listen to her music I would do anything to kill myself

Im a contractor so I carry a truckload of tools. I'm always fixing something!

Me too. One of my helpers that used to work with me carried a Leatherman multitool all the time. We probably worked together about 2 or 3 years and I guess my experience is that the only useful thing on it is the bottle opener

On an actual jobsite I would never be so unprepared that a multitool would be useful. If I was in nature with nothing else then a multi tool would be handy

  3. I actually really only use the Carvin for bass. With guitar it sounds really good on the normal channel especially if you can get some power tube distortion going. The dirt channel just feels a little off on guitar, I’ve heard it can be modded to be a lot better but it’s also pretty easy to just use a dirt pedal

    I remember.

    Master Tube Series.

    The MTS.

I have a Carvin X100B half stack and it’s a badass amp. You get 100W of EL34 goodness, a parametric EQ, spring reverb, and a push pull pot that engages a sortof boost or overdrive mode.

A powerful amp like this is really versatile. Unlike a smaller amp which will distort at the volume levels needed to play with drums and bass, this can do it all. As clean as you want, as dirty as you want, as loud as you want

You all have been here longer than I… I defer to the more experienced members here who have more knowledge about this Company than I do…

Luckily I have no interest in their Guitars.. Just saw some YouTubes and checked out their website…

Another is Guild USA.. I have called them 4-5 different times.. They do not answer the Phone.. I don’t want to do business with a Company I can’t talk to..

I’ve been a member here since 2007. I’ve seen all good people turn their heads each day

    So this is BS?

    https://instrumentguys.com/where-are-zager-guitars-made

I just talked to a Rep at Zager on the Phone & the 80 Series & the 900 Series are USA built Guitars..

Some of their other Guitar parts are sourced from Indonesia & are assembled here.

These guys are absolutely running a scam.

I have even seen their reps claim that every guitar is personally built by that one Zager guy. So if we believe that obviously this Zager guy is the single most prolific luthier of all time. He doesn’t sleep or eat, he’s just banging out the best quality acoustics at record speed for bargain prices.

Ooooor maybe he opens a box from Asia and slaps a sticker in the sound hole and turns a screw here and files a slot there if you’re lucky

Last time we saw Zager here he hit us with some classic spam and created multiple accounts to post fake reviews. It was so stupid it was embarrassing. Out of the blue a new account is spamming Zager. Then suddenly people are creating new accounts to make their only post on this forum a glowing review of their favorite Zager product

Took the words out of my mouth. More affordable guitars for common people. Epiphone did it, good quality for cheaper prices.

Ssshhhhhh let’s not move production to China 🇨🇳

  8. The original was cooler with the carved maple back but I have no idea how the electronics are supposed to be maintained. It must have some hidden way to access the electronics.

If I ignore the first version of the Supreme and take the new one at face value I like it. It’s a nice looking guitar. I’m not going to buy one but I think Gibson did a good job. The heel carving from the Axcess is cool

  9. Anybody who says they heard a difference between PCB traces and wires is full of it. Pots generally have a +/-20% tolerance. If any difference was heard it’s imagined or due to pot tolerances

Not that I’m a big advocate for or against these but as a counterpoint to Chris’ post.. I’d say you could buy the whole PCB assembly and replace the whole thing for the same price or cheaper than having a tech replace a single pot or cap. It would also be pretty rare to need to replace a pot or cap in general

Gibson has informed us, that they made two new MANDOLIN models. They look gorgeous and are premium instruments (including the prices 🧐), but I am not a mandolin player. Never had one in my hands. However, this development is interesting, because it looks like a "technical warmup" for the things that might be really interesting for guitarists, for example ES-175 and similar guitars.

    Here's the link:
    https://www.gibson.com/en-US/page/mandolin

I think this would be a better warmup for a L5 or Byrdland. Those are carved vs the stamped laminated 175

My only negative is anything past 3 on the Reverb sound all the same.

Imo the pots are pretty compromised on the HR series. The volume feels like reverse log. It goes from silent to blisteringly loud if you breath on the thing

Back when these were new that was the first problem you’d immediately notice when you plug into one of these. Always felt like they custom ordered their PCB mounted pots for this series and made a mistake that was too expensive to change. Maybe the later production didn’t have that problem personally I kinda didn’t like these and moved to the deluxe/twin reverb series

  12. Lord knows Fender needs all the help they can get with humbuckers

Welp I don’t think anyone on this forum will be able to answer your question but my $.02 is to match the pot and cap values and wiring from the guitar you’re trying to copy and then take it from there. At that point if you want it to be closer the Shawbucker sounds like a good place to start. I say that with presumably the same lack of experience with the shawbucker as any other member who may post here

  13. I think if Gibson calls it a Shaw pickup and it’s supposed to be a copy of the old Shaw pickups, it should be close enough to do the job.

Your old SG might not have the standard values for the pots and cap. For example Gibson was using 300K linear pots for a long time. This will have more of an impact on the overall sound than switching between similar pickups

what I’m saying is if you buy the new pickup and then compare with the old pickup but don’t pay attention to any differences in pot and cap values you aren’t making a pickup comparison at all.

With that said I don’t think there’s much point in having two guitars that sound exactly the same anyways. If it’s to protect the old one from stage wear I’d suggest that nobody in the audience will ever know the difference

  14. Looks like you have a nice sharp router bit and are cutting with finesse. I love the way the splalting looks in the cavities. I think it would be super cool to not shield the control cavity and use a clear backplate. Not even to show off the electronics but just to show how cool the wood looks from that perspective

btw I totally understand the lapse in time in everything of course but it’s awesome to see an update from you

  15. I think it would be cool if the regular SG standard had a more properly shaped body. The front bevels in the cutaways should follow the pickguard shape more closely and the “horns” should taper down thinner at the tips

I understand implementing any change is expensive, but once that change is made it shouldn’t cost any more to shape the thing more nicely.

If I walked into a guitar store and saw a beautifully shaped SG standard for less than $1,500 I would most likely buy one outright. Don’t do anything dorky on it. You know what we want. Trapezoid inlays, bound fretboard, humbuckers, TOM, half guard or batwing are both great but don’t get dorky and put rings on a batwing. Whatever you call that inlay thing on the headstock is already cool and should not be messed with either

Basically what they are doing with the LP standard they should be doing with the SG standard

  16. Oh boy I didn’t watch the political thing cause I really don’t care but I did try to listen to that “song”..

It made me feel the same way I feel when my Mexican coworkers squirt some ketchup on boiled noodles and call it spaghetti. I’m not eating it, I shouldn’t care, but it’s such a bastardization of something that I love in its proper form.

That’s not music. It has some characteristics which are similar to music
