Where did we land on the tone competition? I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was.

My tone is way better than yours though

Instead of posting links from 6 years ago can you post a sample of your tone please? That would be such an effective way to settle this

Don’t show him what a 335 looks like cut in half… it’s gap city where that block joins to the ...*shudders*… …plywoood

For the love of god let me hear this tone! You’re $7K deep on a Greco and you have made it way past noodling
-
My guy just said he spent $5K on a Greco and then he’s gonna spend $2K on pickups

Dude this guy is a SUCKER I can’t even keep on joking we’re just done here
-
Spending $5K on a Greco is hilarious. Do not overlook what this guy just said lol

Holy **** you spent $5K on a Greco?! lol no wonder you’re so worried about justifying Japanese superiority
Maybe some day those superior luthiers will come up with an idea worth copying and the whole thing can come full circle

Well now I am questioning it... It seems my thirty odd years or so of playing Gibsons I was wrong because some random person told me that the set necks on my guitars arent good enough.. So now I am just going to sell them all and get a ukulele,, Gibson you suck. Thanks Fuji, you really set us all straight on this topic.
I wouldn’t throw the baby out with the bath water. You’re a boomer with like 50 Gibsons. If you cut them all in half you might find one with a decent neck joint. A minuscule amount of Gibsons have proper neck joints
-
Rabs do you even have good tone?? Fuji we really need to hear your tone to put an end to this once and for all

We love music here. It would be awesome to hear some killer guitar playing even if it’s on a Greco. Best way to shut these boomers up is to give them a taste of those fiery licks and show em what a real neck joint sounds like

This guy will apparently believe anything that implies Greco > Gibson.
Thats ok. I’ll stick with my Les Paul and I don’t feel like I need to cut it in half to see if there’s a gap. If there’s a gap then it’s a tone enhancing acoustic chamber

You’ve cooled off a lot as far as I can tell.
We really need to crank it up on the new Gibson posts here 😉

Well I don’t disagree but I friggin hate Bono/U2. Every time they come on the radio at work I’m embarrassed and rush to turn it down. I sincerely think Bono is a clown with no talent and the rest of the band is no better
With that said I’m completely pumped for the Swifty Bowl

Trey was a real sport, and a bona fide guitar collecting maniac.
I always looked forward to his postings, and reading about his latest acquisitions.
badbluesplayer,
I plan to get up to Johnson City later on this year for a visit.
I did some work up that way with Bell Helicopters for a coupla seasons, and I always wanted to go back and hang out for a weekend.
There is extra incentive now, and I want to go by Roselawn Memory Gardens there by I-26 and South Roan Road, to see Trey's final resting place.
I'll let you know when that visit finally comes together, sir.
🥲Now with both Rev David Lee and Guitar God gone I’m not sure we have any straight up guitar collecting maniacs left here

An excellent example in superb condition by the look of it.
I've always wanted one of these since they first came out. Now they are getting harder to find and the price has gone shooting up over the last few years.
Most of the ones I see advertised are in worse condition and/or have been refretted or modded in some way.
Absolutely worth the money IMO as an investment if nothing else, but I bet it's a very fine instrument.
Right there with you… as a kid these were in every pawn shop and I’m sure you could have gotten a good one for about $2K
The one thing that always turned me off about these (aesthetically) is the headstock inlay. It’s a bit much but the split block inlays are beautiful. The one in this link has a really nice top

The aging is real, I’d just didn’t happen from actually playing the guitar 😘

That is an awesome looking guitar

The main thing I dislike about Jimis music is the whole hippie aspect. Even though he was about as innovative as anyone could ever be, he stuck to the hippie fad so aggressively.
I imagine if he could have maintained such a high level of creativity and innovation without aligning so strictly to a passing fad his music would have much stronger appeal once the hippie fad died.
So with that said I think I would pick Band of Gypsys. Jimi feels most honest and real there.

Hmmm... I was born here, and I've been wearing Vans since the 70s. I don't recall them ever being spelled with two n's.
Out of curiosity where are you at now? I’m in Newport Beach. If there are enough SoCal members maybe we could organize some kindof get together or jam?
-
I used to always wear Vans but I got a pair of Nikes and the difference is so huge. Nike really makes a proper shoe. I have some Adidas and they’re so close to being perfect but they make a squeaking sound when I walk
Btw if you do skateboard (yes I know you geezers don’t) Vans are not very good at all but I realize skateboarding now is a lot different than it was originally

$600 is a serious chunk of change to dump on a Chinese Casino. I’m happy I’m not afraid to solder. Glad you’re enjoying the upgrades though
