Im wondering if they will start to make lefty's even a 58 reissue without the Murphy lab .

Some of the earliest R8s before Murphy involvement were built as lefties.

    Indeed it was.  In 1957----

Epiphone began in 1873, in Smyrna, Ottoman Empire (now İzmir, Turkey), where Greek founder Anastasios Stathopoulos made his own fiddles and lutes (oud, laouto). Stathopoulos moved to the United States in 1903 and continued to make his original instruments, as well as mandolins, from a factory at 35-37 36th Street in Long Island City, Queens, New York. Anastasios died in 1915, and his son, Epaminondas ("Epi"), took over. After two years, the company became known as The House of Stathopoulo.[2] Just after the end of World War I, the company started to make banjos. The company produced its recording line of banjos in 1924 and, four years later, took on the name of the Epiphone Banjo Company. It produced its first guitars in 1928. After Epi died in 1943, control of the company went to his brothers, Orphie and Frixo. In 1951, a four-month-long strike precipitated a relocation of Epiphone from New York City to Philadelphia. In 1957 the company was acquired by Gibson.[2] Since then, the brand has been used for a number of different guitars, some manufactured by Gibson itself in its own factories, and some manufactured by other companies such as Matsumoku under contract to Gibson and marketed under the Epiphone brand.

I thought someone said Epiphone's history had been erased!  Did you just make up all that stuff about Turkey, and lutes, and The House of Stathopoulo, and banjos, and ....?

    Hey, Mr. Natural,

    Don't ignore that.

I did, had a heart attack and blacked out while riding a motorcycle.

Yeah, Steve, I really don't ignore it as much as I let on.  I've been taking my Lipitor "religiously" for over 20 years.  I eat better (most of the time) than I did when I was younger, and I'm 20 pounds lighter than I was 20 years ago.  During the warmer months I get a little more exercise outside, and even during the cooler months I've got one of those Gazelle gliders that I get on nearly every evening.  I go to the doctor three times a year to get my cholesterol checked.  My cholesterol is still too high, but really, not by much, and it's much lower than it was over 20 years ago.

I retired almost three years ago, so I've got more time to exercise than I did when I was working, but on the down side, I've also got more time to drink than I did when I was working (my doctor also checks my liver enzymes three times a year; they're good).

So, anyway, whenever y'all hear me going on about some medical condition (like my cholesterol being higher than my SAT scores), I'm really just full of sh!t.

  4. So far, this morning, I went to the doctor to get my semi-annual blood work results.  My doctor told me (again) that my cholesterol is too high.  My cholesterol has always been high.  My cholesterol is higher than my SAT scores.

Anyway, after that, I went across the street to my favorite breakfast spot and loaded up on more cholesterol.  I have to make sure I get my minimum daily adult requirement for cholesterol, fat, grease, and caffeine.

Then I went home and repaired my fence gate.

  5. A frozen microwave breakfast with four cups of coffee while watching a little ESPN.  A trip to the hardware store for some fence gate repair stuff.  I had lunch and three beers at my favorite taco place, then supper and three beers and a shot of Patron at my favorite sports bar.  It was not a very productive day.

I'll fix the fence gate tomorrow.

  6. Welcome to the Gibson forum!

With a Blues Jr. (a great little amp), you really don't need an overdrive pedal or a reverb pedal.  A fuzz might be nice, if you're into fuzz.  Anything else is up to you.  Look at the customer ratings (Sweetwater Sound is good) for different pedals you might be interested in...

    ...my two cents.

which way up is 'down' again? :-s

Speaking of up and down;  I still am not sure what the difference is between "uptown" and "downtown".
