Kbort
Hi, I recently acquired an epiphone I believe is from the early 80s, made in japan with the serial number 265495. I am attaching a picture if it helps. Just trying to get any info I can on it thanks.

Jon S.
Post some pics of the headstock and back of the body, and we should be able to tell.
bigneil
From what I can tell, it is mostly consistent with a Japanese Wilshire but it has a wrap around bridge instead of a stop tail and TOM

jonnyg
The headstock and bolt on neck with the 'Steel adjustable neck' neckplate makes me think it was one of the MIJ export ET series from the mid - late 70's (see the catalogue below). The ET278 looks to be the most likely contender. I still think it's part of that series but I've never seen a wrapover bridge on those models and the ones I've seen all had quite light maple necks with RW fingerboards while the back of the neck on yours looks quite dark (mahogany?). The pix are a bit dark though. Are there any signs of mods to the bridge area and/or refinishing?
Kbort
I don't see any signs of refinishing. As far as I know now mods have been made it was passed down to me from my step dad he kept it original.
