MIK and MIC Epiphone Casino`s. How to distinguish?

I like my MIC just fine. It's from December, 2007. Plays and sounds great. I love this guitar. I have had no issues with wiring and I love the pick ups.

There were a couple of finish issues. The paint on the top underneath the pick guard is a little thin in a couple of spots, and the black paint in the f-holes is kind of sloppy.

The frets were not perfectly level, but close and the fret finish a little rough. I fixed this myself. I also made a new nut out of bone, but not that it needed one. The usual truss rod adjustments, intonation, and set up were needed.

I personally do not care about these minor blemishes, especially since I got a great deal on the used guitar. An MIC Casino will probably never be a collectors item, but I don't think I will ever sell this one.

If you're worried about it, spring for the "Elitist" Casino (MIJ), or one of

the AIUSA "Lennon" 1965 issue Casino's. Expect to pay 2-5 times as much, though,

compared to a Chinese made version. Most of the Chinese versions are "just fine,"

especially, at their price point. No, they're not Kalamazoo originals, or Elitist,

but getting much closer, all the time. [thumbup]

The MIC 335 shapes guitars are also much more accurate to the real deal gibsons. Korea got a little lax with the angles and curvature, and QC seems to have tightened up in the CNC era in this regard. I've been really impressed by the build and sound of all the epi MIC I've played, though I have seen a lot of finish issues, so you can't win em all.
