Zeppeholic
I have heard that there are two types of flame tops, regular and black flame top? What exactly is "black flame top"? Has it ever came on a Les Paul? even better, is it even possible? (p.s. I've seen examples and you can still see the color, but I just want more insight as to does Gibson offer this and could you get this on a Les Paul you send in for refinishing?) You can actually add black dye to the maple cap to show off the grain before adding a colored finish. Gibson uses this process on a few artist signature guitars, most notably the Joe Perry Boneyard
