RobinTheHood
Just to clarify, the serial is several digits too long to be Japanese. Some Japanese guitars had letter prefixes, while others did not. And, yes, there is typically a "made in japan" stamp on them somewhere. My colleague is correct. Your guitar was made at one of the Qingdao factories in China.
Xat_MassacrE
In China, there are only one factory now. 15 means QingDao China. The most standard factory. But on the neck there is a label that wrote 'made in china'.
Gunner
11 = MIC sticker on a '08 Masterbuilt 500 12 = DeaWon or Unsung (China -- uncertainty remains as to which factory) 13 = China - factory unknown 15 = Qingdao (China) -- electric 16 = Qingdao (China) -- acoustic 17 = China - factory unknown MIC sticker on a J160E 18 = China - factory unknown found on one 2009 model bass 20 = DaeWon or Unsung (China -- uncertainty remains as to which factory) Regarding 12 and 20, aren't these in Korea? I lived in China for 2 years and Deawon and Unsung don't seem like the names of any towns in China nor the pinyin spelling for any words used in the Chinese language. They both sound Korean to me. Gunner
OK, I thought it was referring to the city name rather than the company name. Have definitely heard of Dalian, we worked on a power plant there. Drank a lot of Qingdao beer too (called Tsing Tao here in the US).
