Sheraton ll vs ES335 Pro

Anyone got both or done a comparison?

I'm a sucker for gold hardware but seems the pups are better on the Pro. Also not sure about the c profile neck and maple instead of mahogany.

Are the body shapes the same? How different do they sound?

Thx for any help.

Well, I found a shop with a Couple of Sheratons and 335 Dots. I didn't get a chance to plug them in but my initial impressions put me off the Sheraton.

They feel rather unbalanced (head heavy) and the C shape neck is not as comfortable as the Dots D shape IMO. They had an attractive natural colour one but it had some faint blemishes that put me off (I guess the natural colour is going to show every tiny mark). I was also not keen on the three piece neck (longitudinal with thin mahogany stripe separators). It kinda looked nice on the natural one but on the black one you could see and feel the joins.

Maybe I'll wait and see if something else takes my fancy.

I don't know if its just me but the shape of the Sheraton II always seems a bit chunkier than say the 335 pro or the 1962 Sheraton reissue. Personally I'd go for the 335 pro. They don't have them over here in the uk in anything other than black and there's none on eBay at the minute. Wanted one in iced tea or vintage sunburst. Looks like I'm outta luck though. That and a casino were on my wish list. I have a bit of a thing for the the semi/full hollow body .

Yes, I like the 335 Pro but we don't get any here in Oz! The Dot seems a bit plain without the neck binding.

But maybe they are a bit too similar to my 339 and the Casino is the way to go. I kinda like the idea of just picking it up and playing it unplugged, and getting a bit of sound out of it. Don't really like the tail piece tho - a bit agricultural looking. The frequensator is much nicer.

I love the 5-piece necks. I wish the Sorrento had that. My Elitist Broadway had that neck…never should have sold that guitar.

Well it turned out to be the Casino.

Strangely, I was going to get the Lennon version but when I compared them I found the standard version to be way better in every regard IMO. I read reviews that raved about the Lennon version but the one I tried was horrible.

The standard one I got, is once again stunning in fit, finish and setup just like my other two Epis. And the sound just blew me away. Every setting sounded great, from bright and clean to warm n dirty, and the sustain is amazing - think Santana. At low volumes you can control it beautifully by adjusting your orientation to the amp, but it gets pretty uncontrollable at higher volumes.

Every now and again you find a guitar that really shines and it is often the ones you least expect. Of my collection it is this Casino and my Telly. My Strat, my Les Paul and my 339 are all very nice but they don't seem to have that X factor, where you just pick them up and no matter what settings you have dialled up they always sound fantastic.
