GDTRFB
I have an IBJL casino being delivered next week. It will be my first hollowbody. What kind and size of strings are best for these? I have heard flatwound are great. I play mostly rock, Beatles of course, blues. I haven't really done the jazz thing yet, but I really hoping to get the bell like clean sounds with the casino. (I have an SG for the harder stuff). Thanks for any input.
charlie brown
Any Decent quality strings will be fine. Flatwounds, if you love "The Beatles" Casino tones, and/or Jazz-like tonality. Round wounds, or 1/2 rounds, are good choices too, depending on what you're after. But, Casino's don't "require" any special strings, beyond your own preferences. Pyramid, or Thomastik's-Infeld, for Flatwounds, is pretty standard. CB
bluelake07
I don't play jazz and flatwounds are too dull-sounding to me and I get squeaks with roundwounds so I'm back to using D'Addario XL Half-Rounds 10-46. The next strings I try will be GHS Brite Flats which are advertised as being similar to flatwound in feel, but with a brighter tone.

I have GHS Brite Flats on a few guitars of mine. They are as advertised, a combination of flats and rounds -- feel of flatwounds with no no finger-squeak, brighter tone of roundwounds. Very, very nice strings. I have flatwounds on my burst Casino and roundwounds on my Inspired Lennon. They sound very different. I get jazzy and early rock tones from the flats, I get crisp rock from the rounds.
