jimmyl51
Does anybody on this group have any hints on how to remove a trussrod cover that is REALLY tightly adhered to the headstock of in this case my 1966 Guild T-100 in natural that is in basically mint condition? I just don't to want to chance skipping a screwdriver tip on to the headstock as this guitar is like almost brand new especially for its age. jim in Maine
Sleeko
I wonder if heating it up with a hair dryer for a short time would do the trick.
Ken Rayba
You could try spraying a small amount of WD-40 on it. I don't know how if anything the WD-40 would do to the wood or the finish.
Kurt Vonnegut Fan
I would very carefully score around the perimeter with a very sharp xacto knife, so that the surrounding finish doesn't lift with the cover.
SteveFord
Lemon oil won't hurt anything and a few drops might act as a good lubricant to unstick it.
jimmyl51
I put a bit of lemon oil around the TRC so the cover lifted just a 'bit' to the point where I was able to slip a super, super small flat screwdriver tip under the cover and it just popped off.........was able to adjust the relief just a bit to the point where my '66 T-100 plays like an absolute dream now! jim in Maine
