Stu-bud Posted November 30, 2014 Share Posted November 30, 2014 Just got a Vox AC4HW1, the handwired 4 watt version of the old AC4. I installed some 1950's NOS RCA 12ax7s, and replaced the single EL84 (a JJ) with a 50's NOS Amperex EL84. Wow, this thing is a monster! It really does live up to its hype, that it is all you need. You couldn't possibly make this sound better with a pedal (except maybe some reverb and/or delay). It has the original Celestion Greenback, the only speaker option for this model.
