Rabs
Rabs... I saw a guy play in a Scottish pub in Toronto, he had a Squire, he managed to squeeze tone out of it too... it sounded so good I even thought of buying one.... so what are we saying, brilliant players don't need expensive guitars to produce great tone... ? Hmmm, no.. What im saying is a great player is a great player regardless of tone... Its their playing style that sounds good... Like as mentioned before, people like Steve Vai and Satch.. Amazing fretboard gymnasts, but not really known for their tone, doesn't make them bad players.. But then when you hear someone like Clapton (LP days) or Gary Moore or BB King, and you hear the pure expression they put into one note and the sound that creates.. well, who wouldn't want to sound like that.. and that does come from good tone as well as good technique because you need to know how to control your harmonics and feedback coming from the amp AND how to bend or vibrato or even generally pick a note nicely.. true, that us Blues and Rock lovers are the only ones who seem to even really care (maybe country pickers too).. but there is a difference, even if it doesn't really matter to most people in the overall picture :)
