PR350S

Hi Folks

A store about 10 miles away has a PR350S for sale for £120 (around $180).

Anyone have one of these/think it's a good deal?

From the photos it looks in good condition.

It's either this or a new A220 I think (or a parlour guitar!).

here's a link to see the guitar:

Any opinions would be most welcome!

thanks

Dodger if I were you I would look at thomann - the Harley Bentons at around the £100 mark are very good. They have a nice mahogany top OM which looks good.

Hi Mick

I have been looking at Thomann - was looking at the HB 41E - solid top and rosewood back and sides with a good pickup...for about £220

Just have GAS!

cheers mate

GAS - it's a terrible (and wonderful) affliction!

If you didn't find it already, the wiki has a bit of info http://epiphonewiki.com/index.php/PR-Series#PR-350.2FS.2FE

£120 for a guitar that's at least 12 years old with laminated b&s sounds a bit steep, but then maybe it's a gem. 10 miles away? At the risk of stating the obvious, go and play the thing.

Don't know anything about Harley Bentons, but Sigma make some decent, reasonably priced guitars that get a lot of love and I keep finding myself drawn to Stanfords.

Happy hunting.

Funny you should mention guitars on German sites - I was looking at a parlour Jack & Danny AP30S on a German website (and the English DV247 one). £85 for a solid spruce top and laminated rosewood b&s - figured for that price it is worth a punt. Very similar one in Dawson for £140 that has cedar on walnut.

Come on Dodger, the suspense is killing me!

Did you check out the Epi? Did you buy it? Or have you ordered something else? Spill the beans. [biggrin]

I was on the Thomann site again earlier, boy they have a pretty thin selection of Epiphone acoustics these days. Lots of other nice stuff though.

Hoho Irish Rover - actually might buy a Vintage V880 on Gumtree. Only £60 and been looking at parlour guitars. I could look at the Thomann site all day and they're great to deal with. Bought a Casino copy for £100 from there and love it

Cool, I needed something to cheer me up this morning after just watching the awful news from Paris.

Must confess that I had to look up the Vintage - how have I not seen these before? Slot head with a solid cedartop that gets great reviews for that price, sounds almost too good to be true. Keep us posted.

Gone before I could contact the fella

That's a shame but not really surprising at that price. Brand new they're around the same price as the EL-00 Pro (one to consider?).

I was looking at small bodied guitars on Thomann the other day and The Loar have a pretty good selection of solid tops ranging from around £160 up to just under 300 for the all solid wood LH-250-SN (with one 'b' stock model for almost £50 off).

  • 2 weeks later...

Just played a new AJ220 at lunchtime - I had the old AJ200 before I dropped it on its head - it sounded better to my ears than a load of more pricey guitars and I remember how my old one "broke in" to sound even better (I was playing a lot then). For the price these are brilliant but I can't help feeling that it is too similar to my EJ160e...

I think one of the best things about Epiphones is how they have so many different styles of guitar, that it is easy to find one to your taste, and in a good price range for a well made guitar. I just picked up an 1996 AJ-1 for cheap. I replaced to old pick guard and the tuners with a spare set I had, lowered the action to just above buzz, and boom, its a great beater guitar that I don't have to worry about taking anywhere, and it sounds and plays amazingly well for a cheap lam guitar. I spent less than 70.00 on it.
