Paul E
I've got a question for anyone that has a Blues King. What brand of strings sound best with yours? I bought a Blues King last summer to play a little rag time on and I've only tried the Gibson Masterbuilt Premiums in .012 and D'Addario EJ11 80/20s in .012. I've added bone pins but left the saddle and nut in tusq alone.
Jerry K
I use John Pearse New Mediums. This is a kind of Medium/Light mixture. The guitar has way more oomph with heavier strings. If you do a lot of note-bending that may not work for you. When I got the guitar it had extra lights which in my opinion completely masked the beautiful tone of this guitar. It sounded better with lights and way better with medium/lights. YMMV depending on your style and the sound you like.

Pickax
I use D'Addairo EJ 17's on my 96 Blues King. This particular Blues King has a deep body and I like the tone with these Phosphor Bronze Medium Gauge strings.
Paul E
Thanks for the info I'll give the EJ17's a try after the 11's loose their luster.
Rambler
Putting a .12 set on my (departed) BK turned it into a mini canon with a honking bass. Wouldnt say it was a purty, tone, necessarily, but it was out there. Btw, different rules apply for a vintage L00. Light build, thin top. An .11 set should get it going. eds111
Martin FX Phosphor Bronze Lights. I like the strings well broken in on this guitar. My strings are ancient (about 8 months old!). They still sound great! I play it everyday, this is my favorite guitar.
