Ed Pitts
Just bought a new Hummingbird Figured Mahogany last week. I was looking over the owners manual this morning and the back is the final inspection checklist. Near the bottom of this list is a Model No. SSHCFMG17 The 7th letter I called a "G" may be wrong. Question is; the inside label says the Model No. is; "Hummingbird Figured Mahogany" Anyone know what this second model no. is?
62burst
BigKahune here on the forum usually can translate a good bit of the model number, but to get the ball rolling, he'd end up recommending an email sent to Gibson at service@gibson.com, supplying them with your serial #, and asking what your model number decodes to. And don't forget to report back when you here from them in a day or so.
BigKahune
. Congrats. Sounds like a very nice 'Bird. Would be nice to know the finish and hardware colors. Are you sure about those last coupla letters? - SS - Square Shoulder HC - Heritage Cherry sunburst FM - Figured Mahagony The next two letters would indicate the hardware, so guessing GH for Gold Hardware. So guessing the last two characters are poorly written and are actually an 'H' and a '1' - the last character is almost always a 1, 2, 3 or 4 where 1=RightHand, 2=LeftHand, and in sometimes in the Acoustic division: 3=RH with pick up, and 4=LH with pick up. .
