I think the newer Herc stands don't have the problem with Nitro, I have one that's about 3/4 years old, I don't leave my gibsons on any hanger or stands for really long periods of time. usually keep em cased when not playing, but there have been times when I've left my Paul, SG, or 135 on the herc stand for a few days with no side effects from nitro interacting with the material on the stand. about hanging and damage from that, no, don't worry about that..
