coupe89
Just changed the string for the first time on my 2016 Standard and first time with locking tuners. I noticed on the B and high E string here was some slipping when tuning up for a little bit until I turn the peg for a while. Is this normal? I changed the strings by pulling the string through the hole then tightened the tuner then started tuning. Also started doing some updates and setup to my 98 Epiphone Standard. american cheez
if the locking tuners are working properly, you don't need ANY wraps. in fact, that's the entire point to having them. less wraps mean more stability, provided you're not snagging at the nut. edit: there's also speedy string changes, but the most important benefit is tuning stability. coupe89
I was pulling the string through the tightening the tuner, then I would start tuning. On my B just before I got to be it would drop tuning down to almost A# again on the E string it took awhile to get the tuning to stop dropping to C#. Twang Gang
Yes, once you pull the string through the hole in the peg, you have to tighten (lock it) down before you tune. Also, some of the change could've been the string stretching a little.
