1987x
Hello everyone, it is my first time posting something in the forum. I came across this vintage archtop guitar, and i was wondering if any can help identify it, if its a real gibson or not. ( i could not find anything on the F hole) I leave some pictures attached. thank you.

sparquelito
That headstock with non-slanted 'The Gibson' logo is typical of some late 1920's to as late as 1933 Gibson guitars. L-4 or L-5 arch top? I'll do some digging.

sparquelito
I'm about to run to do some errands, but I'm almost certain its a late 1920's L-4 or L-5. The pick guard is gone, and that bridge looks to be a replacement for the original. The flowerpot inlay is period-correct, but most of the descriptions I read would indicate a bound headstock. Not sure. Could be worth well over two thousand dollars American in that condition. Anyway, I'll step aside. I'm sure there are some fellows who have much more experience than I on these elderly instruments.

1987x
Thanks “ksdaddy” I was concerned that was the case for the fretboard inlays and the non usual looking of the open book style headstock !
