davistld01
Up until recently I would have called myself a “Martin guy”, but that was before I played my first Gibson a week ago. Wow! It was a J45 Custom & I was blown away by the volume, tone & presence. I am currently looking at a near spotless 2013 J-180ec for a possible purchase. Can some of you experienced Gibson guys give me a “review” on the guitar? I can buy it for around $1200. Is that a good deal? Thanks! :)
Leonard McCoy
The J-180 is a mini-jumbo with maple back and sides that sounds decidedly different than a J45 Custom. Depending on the condition and age of the guitar, it might be a fair deal.
Dave F
Most of the J45 Customs are rosewood back and sides. Don't expect the same results from a different body shape with different tonewoods. Not to say one is better than the other, it's just a matter of taste. They are different.
